And I'm really quite scared what's going to happen 😭

I hope the posters who slated Martin Lewis on here accusing him of being a drama queen come back and admit they were wrong after todays energy cap has been revealed.

No, they will be on other forums spreading lies. That's what The Party pays them for.

Yep, I seen a woman on Twitter this morning accuse him of scaring pensioners, when he quoted one elderly woman who said she was upset and worried about the price cap change.

We have actually been presented with the facts and they’re still accusing him of “scaremongering”.

Some people are so brainwashed it defies logic and can’t tolerate any criticism of this government that they pledge undying allegiance to 🙄

I do think he does enjoy his fame and gives unnecessary warnings left right and centre.

Gosh he only predicted a 65% rise.

@Pinklimey what do you think about a 80% rise that will cause the average household on the average income, paying average energy bills to be in fuel poverty?

How wrong were you? He has doen nothing but try to help us

Backtothenineties · 21/10/2022 17:22

I wonder if the posters who accused him of scaremongering will come back and admit he was trying to warn everyone and is still trying to raise awareness of what's coming.
I'm not Martin Lewis btw before I get accused of being him Grin I just respect him for trying to help people and take on the govt

Totally!!!

I know him. He hates the attention. He turned down a possible seat in the House of Lords. His warnings have all come to pass. And you, what have you done to help others?

Diamondsareforever123 · 21/10/2022 20:48

Martin Lewis is the only true voice in this economic crisis. You can't believe a word the Tories say.

I don't think he turned down a place, but rather chose not to apply because as he sagely explained, to do the role justice will require three or four years to understand the workings of the place before making a significant contribution.
Compared to Lord Sugar who took a leave of absence to become temporarily non-dom to avoid more than £100 million in tax before returning, Martin Lewis is exactly the kind of person that should be in the Upper House.

FayeGovan · 21/10/2022 23:38

Imagine him as PM.

God, that hurts my heart, how much i wish it were true.

MarshaBradyo · 22/10/2022 07:14

He wouldn’t be able to magic more money so you’d just get a whole load if people expecting him to fix their problems.

It’s much easier agitating for things than raising the funds to give.

Solonge · 22/10/2022 07:55

Oh anyone who wanted to could raise the funds….windfall taxes for gas companies…no more non dom status like Lord Sugar…tax all their wealth, no more tax avoidance, no more clever accounting, simple system where you pay what you owe or go to prison. Tax all multinationals who make money in the U.K…nationalise all transport and utilities…it’s incredibly easy…the difficult thing is getting people to think about the country as a whole…to think what type of country you wish to live in…one that has built in fairness where we all pay our dues and understand and accept paying tax isn’t a bad thing…it would provide excellent schools, good healthcare, social services, provide stop gap housing for those that find themselves homeless, decent roads, enough police, teachers, firemen, doctors an£ nurses that are needed…Or we could keep voting Tory, prove our selfishness and rather step over homeless people on the pavement and accept some of the kids in your child’s school only eat once a day than push for higher taxes and no let out clauses. We all have that choice.

MarshaBradyo · 22/10/2022 08:21

WFT is not meant to be ongoing Labour have it at £8bn, not sure how much Nom Dim issue would raise, the multinational part - how does it work in reality?

My preference atm is someone who is strong on economics, so Sunak. He got it right earlier predicting what would happen

notprincehamlet · 22/10/2022 08:26

Oh anyone who wanted to could raise the funds
Absolutely. But the whole raison d'etre of the Tory pty is to keep the wealth of the country in the hands of the few, to protect unearned income and windfalls and to create opportunities for the wealthy to get wealthier.

MarshaBradyo · 22/10/2022 08:37

I wouldn’t go with anyone who thinks it’s easy to solve. Especially in this climate. More fairy tale economics and over promising.

BettyJDavies · 22/10/2022 10:31

Just know your place and stop moaning, there's still cake.
