I was expecting to be dying today but am fine. Got a fan upstairs but not even feeling hot enough to bring it down yet. Just seems like a normal sunny day

Am near Manchester

Very hot here in North Hampshire.
I'm wfh and followed the advice on here and opened all windows at doors at 6am for an hour then closed the house up and closed all the curtains. It's working a rwa

Playplayaway · 18/07/2022 13:21

Oops posted too quick.
It's working a treat. I'm not hot indoors at all. I'm hoping it will stay cool for sleeping tonight.

So yes outside - HOT!
Inside - COOL!

emmathedilemma · 18/07/2022 13:21

We're only forecast to be in the high 20's but it's definitely warm in the sun out there! I relieved that the office is a lot cooler than I was expecting it to be but I suspect my car will be like an oven when I go home.

On all the hot days so far my house has been fine during the day and then by about 3/4pm, despite curtains closed and all those precautions, I start to feel it. I think the worst bit today at mine is going to be the evenings and overnight as the temperature is not predicted to drop nearly enough.

Anothernamechangeplease · 18/07/2022 13:22

It's 34 degrees outside where I am, so pretty hot, but our house is cool and very pleasant!

user1471464218 · 18/07/2022 13:22

Yeah, Northern Ireland. It's definitely warmer than recent weather today....but warmer than 14 in July isn't that unusual

StrangeCondition · 18/07/2022 13:23

Feels pretty hot where I am near Manchester, currently 33°

NuffSaidSam · 18/07/2022 13:23

We're not too bad indoors either, but outside is insane, the air is so hot feels like you're constantly under a hairdryer/hot air vent.

PurpleDaisies · 18/07/2022 13:24

Inside it’s ok. Outside is horrific.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 18/07/2022 13:24

It's 35 where I am. Inside is fine. I've just walked to the shop and it's pretty hot.

I love the sun though. Just about to sit on my lounger and read a good book

drinkingwineoutofamug · 18/07/2022 13:25

I have 10cm approx of shade left. East Cheshire it's a lovely 33c atm.
4 loads of washing done.
Feeling very sorry for my colleagues working today

Saisong · 18/07/2022 13:25

25 degrees indoors in dark and gloom. 33.5 degrees outdoors even in shady garden. Me and the cats are chillin indoors, I'm only going out to pick kids up from school so they don't have to walk a mile in 34 degrees.

Grumpybutfunny · 18/07/2022 13:25

I'm floating between the paddling pool and hot tub, not as hot as predicted in the north east

Saisong · 18/07/2022 13:27

Dh has text to say he's sat in the office under the arctic aircon with a jumper on 🤣

Badger1970 · 18/07/2022 13:27

It's around 33c here in Cheltenham, and I've managed to keep the office at 27c as our dogs are here with us.

Don't feel too bad at all with it yet but am dreading overnight...............

MintJulia · 18/07/2022 13:28

My uncle's spent the morning doing the times crossword in our local church. He says it's a nice steady 19 degrees in there.

😄

MintJulia · 18/07/2022 13:29

And free !

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 18/07/2022 13:29

I'm in the West Midlands. Working in the back of my living room. Shut the patio door because of my hay fever. Wasn't too bad earlier but now I am boiling. I saw on here yesterday about closing windows as I have two small ones open. Does that work?

Kindofcrunchy · 18/07/2022 13:30

In North Wales and it's not too bad at all 😊

SirChenjins · 18/07/2022 13:31

Me. I'm in the office today and I've just been out for a walk - it's nice out there, but not roasting. My office is always cooler than the outside temperature (no air con, just shady part of the building) so it's just a warm day, nothing more.

28 degrees in the sun in Glasgow with a very light breeze - it's actually quite pleasant!

I live in an Edwardian tenement, so thick stone walls help keep the house cool. Additionally, the windows in my home office face north west, so no direct sun until later in the day.

The cats are sunbathing in the bay windows at the front of the house and having a lovely time!

Same here. My house is 25 with windows and curtains closed. My south facing heat trap garden is boiling with no air kind of feeling . The front room feels ok currently

yesterday the house didn’t feel warm til late afternoon though.

That’s exactly what happens in my house

ChessieFL · 18/07/2022 13:42

South West here, and cooler today than it was over the weekend. Quite cloudy which is probably helping.
