@Shoopitypoop - It doesn’t matter how often your neighbours shower, if they have stale sweat on their clothes, they are going to smell. Pooey!

Felixsmama · 15/07/2022 08:51

Once a day in summer every other in winter. I wash my bits with a flannel. I wash my hair twice a week.

@AllThingsServeTheBeam you being rather pedantic here. You may smell? I'm not standing next to you. Can't tell from here. You may not. I'm not saying people with disabilities who can't shower daily are magically not grim.

Perhaps I'm not wording myself clearly. What I mean is, if people have no mobility issues, there really is no excuse for not showering daily I'm my opinion. I am sure those with disabilities have worked out schedules and systems for themselves that they are comfortable with.

But honestly if I had have said everyone should wash daily then you'd be at me for not considering people with disabilities. It's incredibly difficult to say anything on Mumsnet without someone taking offence. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So don't comment about how grim others are without knowing if they smell or not.

Not everyone needs to shower everyday. Disabilities or not

ChinBristles · 15/07/2022 11:27

I actually just live in the shower now so that I can be permanently clean. I have grown gills and fins but that's just a bonus. The rest of you are vile!

LindaEllen · 15/07/2022 11:45

Shower every evening, with the rare exception of if we're out and get back late and I'm knackered.

Sometimes again in the morning in disgustingly hot weather.

Sometimes to wash my hair before I go out if I'm going somewhere.

I actually think I shower too much, and I'm seriously considering cutting back for the sake of my gas bills.

welshpolarbear · 15/07/2022 11:51

@AllThingsServeTheBeam You're being quite touchy. Pp was just trying to be inclusive. To say she gets why some disabled people may not be able to physically manage showering every day.

JorisBonson · 15/07/2022 12:10

Every morning.

At the moment I'm showering when I get home from work due to the heat, and I always shower after the gym.

Bloody hell you can't win. If I didn't mention some people with disabilities may find it difficult showering daily I get jumped on and if I do mention there could be physical factors that limit people jumping in a shower it's also a problem?? Christ. Overall I think in our day and age, where access to clean easy showers is pretty much standard, anyone who washes once a week is grim. They do smell and they look unwashed. That's my thoughts. I'm not surprised at the amount of people who say they don't wash much. After all in Australia they refer to an English Shower (spray of deodorant) all the time. Wonder where they got that idea from?

I've only ever heard that called a Portuguese shower before but that's a bit too racist/xenophobic to use.

Yes but I am a disabled person and to hear the word grim used to describe anyone that doesn't shower everyday get on my tits. Showering every other day is not grim. Disabled or otherwise

nomistake · 15/07/2022 12:29

Every morning without fail, sometime evening as well if exercising, or certain times of the month

prixa · 15/07/2022 12:31

I live in my shower Hmm

Twice a day.

Used to be once a day - I need my morning shower to wake up properly.

DW is Japanese, and Japanese people cannot entertain the thought of not showering before bed. So, not wanting to be kicked out of bed, I also shower in the evening now. I turn the water off while I'm scrubbing, lathering, shampooing etc.

It surprises me how many people in the UK apparently shower less than once a day. Or more correctly, it surprised me the first few times I read threads on this topic.

My DH is Japanese and yes; all jokes aside from my previous post, I shower every night as he is very strict with his hygiene.

TiddyTidTwo · 15/07/2022 12:39

I love being dirty

BashfulClam · 15/07/2022 12:41

This question again? Ffs we have someone ask this almost weekly!

maddy68 · 15/07/2022 12:50

Every morning Sometime again in the evening If I am going out

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 15/07/2022 12:57

@Fizbosshoes i needed that laugh!

LaughingCat · 15/07/2022 15:05

I work out six times a week first thing in the morning, so normally straight after that. I don’t care about going to bed a bit manky. My hair is super fine so if I don’t wash it, it’s really lank and greasy by day two (even when I’m not working out). Yes, I’ve tried leaving my hair when I’m not working out, once for nearly three months to normalise the oils etc, but it has never worked. I just look grim!

HavfrueDenizKisi · 15/07/2022 16:09

@AllThingsServeTheBeam but I didn't say showering every other day was grim, did I? I said showering once a week is pretty grim. So don't put words in my mouth. That's my opinion and I'm sure many agree with that. You are just looking for reasons to be offended. I won't make any consideration in my comments for people who have different lives/abilities from me from now on. What's the point? Whatever one says someone like you jumps in with the what about this. And I was trying to make it clear there are exceptions. But not good enough for you. Apparently. Confused

But why use the word? Just don't comment. It has fuck all to do with anyone else unless they actually smell

VincaBlue · 15/07/2022 17:03

Once per day

Mumof3girlsandaboy · 15/07/2022 17:06

i Shower every day and on the hot day twice a day

BusySittingDown · 15/07/2022 17:10

Daily, sometimes twice depending on what I'm doing. For example, I always shower every morning without fail but if I'm going out for the evening I will shower before that too.

On holiday I shower twice a day.
