My son got a first at RG Uni and has won a prize for his dissertation and top marks for his course!! As you can imagine I am absolutely bursting with pride but my cohort have had massive problems with their children generally! I just cannot share this news for a few weeks. It would be lovely to share this positive news 😘

Congratulations🙂🙂🙂. That’s wonderful news!!! Could I have a small brag too? My son has 4 A* predicted grades at A level….I told someone today and spent the next hour dying of embarrassment that I’d boasted😫😫😫.

Don't mind them @VioletInsolence , it's a positive thing to be shared and celebrated. Don't let them rain on your parade.
Congratulations to your son 👏.

I think you should brag. I got a mid first on my dissertation plan and I'm waiting for my dissertation grade. I already have a high 2:1 but a first would be the icing. I have bragged and will continue to. I am 46, have 3 kids (over about to do MA and the other going to 2nd year UG) I also have had massive health issues and thought I should leave my course.
You deserve to brag, you raised a hard working, talented young man. It isn't your fault how other's children are doing.
Raising a glass to you both xx

Teatotal2 · 15/07/2022 00:59

Congratulations to you and your son, that is such an achievement🎉
I have to say it is very thoughtful of you to be aware of others feelings though.
My FB page is filled with parenting boasts about their children's successes, and whilst I am happy for them, I also grieve a little with each one as my daily celebration is being get my daughter out of bed and helping her make it through another day due to trauma and anxiety due to late diagnosis of ND condition, so do really appreciate your thoughfulness and consideration of others feelings💕

Ifrozethehoumous · 15/07/2022 07:01

Very well done to your amazing son! Aren’t people kind too, to share your joy? Enjoy this special moment.

If your cohort are real friends they will be happy for you & for your sons achievement no matter what they have going on in their own lives. You aren’t rubbing it in your are sharing amazing news.
I’d find new friends!

ChilledBeez · 15/07/2022 11:04

What a lovely person you must be in considering how your friends will feel. I was in the same position with my son so I waited before telling them in a very casual manner.. I know you want to scream from the roof tops but as long as your son knows how proud you are of him that is the most important thing here. He obviously studied very hard to achieve that. Good luck to him in the future.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 15/07/2022 11:17

👏👏👏🥂🍾!

clarehhh · 15/07/2022 11:42

Fantastic, I know what you mean it is hard news to share with those who are in same cohort.

Lopoem · 15/07/2022 13:09

Huge Congratulations to your son, you must be so proud!

I feel your pain regarding sharing. My eldest is only 6 and I already want to share how well she is doing. Top of her class for reading, writing, Maths and Science. I know nobody else is actually interested though, so I keep quiet. What your son has achieved is massive though so you should be able to share. I only hope my DD puts in the work to achieve all she is capable of as your son has.

chersparkle · 15/07/2022 13:21
