A few weeks ago there was a thread that was really funny. I literally couldn't move for laughing at one of the comments. Think it was something like "did you smash your tits on the keyboard and press send" most days since, this comment has popped into my mind and made me laugh so much.

So who ever posted that comment thanks so much 💐

What's the funniest thing you have ever read on MN?

Snapped and farted wasn’t real?! I remember being on that thread and it makes me so proud to be at the birthplace of such a mumsnet classic moment. Knowing it wasn’t real just ruins the whole thing. (I was pretty new to mumsnet at the time, I don’t think fake posts would have been on my radar, they definitely are now!)

Some of the funniest threads aren’t real, Sistine chapel being one of them.

Funny trolling can be great, the “can I name my baby Balonz?” Is one of my favourites.

Spanielservant · 08/07/2022 07:46

The one where the little boy had a badge, called birdie I think and the mum thought it was possessed.

LadyLothbrook · 08/07/2022 07:49

Sorry but the screaming at the Sistene Chapel finished me off. I couldn't mentally get the image out of my mind of the woman's scream echoing around the hall. And her husbands mortified reaction. Hilarious. It's the most classic of classics 🤣

WeAreTheHeroes · 08/07/2022 07:50

Pom bears for me. Also the original penguin bollards thread from a poster who lived on the Isle of White was very funny.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 08/07/2022 07:51

This thread, where OP looked after her friends 3yr old for a weekend Grin www.mumsnet.com/talk/mumsnet_classics/1852343-Well-That-went-well-didnt-it

The ‘STARTING ROUTE TO..’ when the girl had put in the address of a nice looking guy in the office as he read it out (while sitting beside her)

Oh that was a brilliant thread!!

LadyLothbrook · 08/07/2022 07:54

Also one poster was asking a question about some gnarly goings on with her vagina, she stated that she had 'name changed' for this but it failed and the first commenter clearly recognised her as a regular poster and responded 'user??' I was in tears 🤣🤣

Namechanger1002 · 08/07/2022 06:50

The Angela Hernandez thread. 😂
CAT me you cunt thread 😂
Definitely the I AM CANADIAN thread 😂
I used to weep with laughter at threads on here. Now they seem too try hard and just not funny.

Me too. Quite often, there were threads that had me crying laughing. That hasn't happened for at least 3 years now. It really isn't the same here anymore. I just hang around for the intelligent and astute threads on feminism mainly.

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 08/07/2022 07:56

Sistine Chapel is obviously fake (but still funny imho).
A recent funny thread was where the poster claimed her toast at the hotel had been "crucified", rather than cremated 😁

Is that you UCM? 😂😂

ZenNudist · 08/07/2022 07:58

There used to be some genuinely funny posters in the old days. I remember one and I think she went on a date that involved a penguin pond. Her other threads were gold. She seemed genuine. Nowadays there's so many using mumsnet for creative writing you don't get that. You do still get funny responses that crease me up.

I don't think sistene Chapel screamer was real but her thread was a lot more real than some of the long running threads on marital breakdown, life after divorce with a crowd of acolytes.

Warmhandscoldheart · 08/07/2022 07:59

'Boil in a vag' 🤣

ilovesushi · 08/07/2022 08:04

So many! I don't remember the details but there was an epic parking one about someone who was blocked into their drive for days. Possibly a horse box was involved. Or maybe the blockers in had gone camping or for a picnic. It was brilliant. So many twists and turns along the way.

Ishacoco · 08/07/2022 08:06

The poster who had her hair dyed red and described herself as looking like a 'fat match'. Nothing has ever beaten that for me!

MintyGreenDreams · 08/07/2022 08:07

The fox finger up the bum one as pp said.

There was one where a dad was feeding his kids badger meat or something? Does anyone remember?

barbrahunter · 08/07/2022 08:09

There was one on a S&B thread about hope v reality (someone upthread has already mention that thread) where the poster came back from the hairdressers feeling all sleek and beautiful and her husband and/or his mate were in the kitchen and one of them shouted 'it's colonel Gadaffi' . I laugh every time I think of that! I remember looking Col Gadaffi up after that and that made me laugh even more!

justasking111 · 08/07/2022 08:12

Place marking 😂😂

3luckystars · 08/07/2022 08:17

There was one and I can never find it since, it was ‘has anyone ever been to VanHoydunk’ or some other misspelled word.

The answers were absolutely priceless. I laughed so much at that one. It’s probably impossible to find now because I can’t remember the exact spelling of the destination.

Yes that was it!! 🤣🤣 Brilliant

ThreeKneeRepeater · 08/07/2022 08:20

That thread where posters described themselves when trying on on line clothing compared to what they had dreamed they would resemble in said clothing items.

This thread from classics!

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 08/07/2022 08:22

'Mona Lisa hair peach'

Sidge · 08/07/2022 08:24

My favourites are the really old ones - least illustrious moments of my career, fashion disasters, shitting elf, hedge sex, religious fridge, is that you etc.

I thought penis beaker and Sistine chapel were just stupid, contrived and not remotely funny. Not in the witty, intelligent way threads used to be.

Some are just sweet and endearing and embody the lovely community MN can be - I’m thinking of the drug withdrawal baby one for example.

Abouttoblow · 08/07/2022 08:24

The style failures thread which included:
"Suzi Quatro's fat nan"
"A fat match" and
"Lionel Blair"
