Funnily enough I found my mind wandering earlier about whether Johnson would try and run for PM in this race (cos I wouldn't put anything past him ) or get someone in who resigns after a few months and has put him as deputy - and voila. Him and wifey are back to their wallpaper!

DH just told me he’d read that Steve Baker has withdrawn his candidacy and announced he’s supporting Suella Braverman. I’ve no idea whether this can be right either. I’m in a state of complete shock, having accidentally stumbled across a rancid Twitter thread of true believers who actually think that Braverman is, and I quote, 'very clever', 'impressive', and 'has real mettle'. But they’re worried that she might be too soft on immigration like Priti Patel Yes, really.

I suppose it’s useful to be reminded what some people out there actually do believe. But my god, it’s terrifying.
