Any Questions is fun tonight. Rees Mogg is having a deliciously hard time.

tobee · 08/07/2022 20:33

Please please please let's see the end of this awful person. I wish beyond anything that he will be voted out.

I'm due to see a friend in his constituency, I will be campaigning !

Peregrina · 08/07/2022 20:38

I can't see him wanting to stay on - he has to be No 1 or nothing.

the80sweregreat · 08/07/2022 20:38

I think that Jacob's seat is fine.
I can't see them voting for anyone else there somehow :(

Nadine ! If she gets it she'll promote Mr Johnson MP to be deputy or something like that !! She'll sneak him back in with Jacobs help
Trojan horse style

Funnily enough I found my mind wandering earlier about whether Johnson would try and run for PM in this race (cos I wouldn't put anything past him Grin) or get someone in who resigns after a few months and has put him as deputy - and voila. Him and wifey are back to their wallpaper!

the80sweregreat · 08/07/2022 20:45

Nadine won't get the job though, but what if BJ pays off the new person to get him a non job ? Gove's old one or something?
.. I wouldn't put anything past him tbh ! It would be a good fictional story though !

We're in deep shit.

The new Education Minister gives the middle finger to the general public.
This is where we are.

Can you even begin to imagine if this was a Labour politician?????

twitter.com/DavidLammy/status/1545486218808492033

I know I've had a glass of wine but seriously I am SHOCKED

Is this what we are reduced to?

the80sweregreat · 08/07/2022 20:56

She would be hounded if she was the head of a school and did this.
It is shocking , but not surprising.
Boris Johnson has shown them the way to go

Saucery · 08/07/2022 21:04

Non-ironic Mumsnetty Wow. Just wow to that.

Roussette · 08/07/2022 21:04

I am depressed. Peter Bone that disgusting apologist and nasty person is Deputy Leader of the HoC

We are going to hell in a handcart

These things have been normalised since Johnson became leader

Look at where the GOP and wider US politics is since Trump. People talking about the loss of a civil war over there in a non alarmist way.

tobee · 08/07/2022 21:11

Start not loss of a civil war

Confession I'm enjoying a glass of Prosecco as a belated celebration of this weeks events.

Don't trust that my reasons for celebration are safe

I'm trying to be positive and I've been to the pub and drinking wine now but I think we're in for a tough time.

YogaLite · 08/07/2022 21:19

@tobee, u are right, not only we will have another farewell but if he drags it out till the autumn, it will be timed with a crisis of energy bills/fuel and run up to flu season - that way he will have the last laugh at our expense.

I really think that he shouldn't be calling the shots, he is history and needs to go ASAP.

the80sweregreat · 08/07/2022 21:21

The conservatives will let people freeze and starve this winter and we will all sit here and do nothing because really there isn't much we can do. It's so depressing.
The squatter is in for the long haul too , he isn't going anywhere either , calling the shots and still being paid !

tobee · 08/07/2022 22:04

Boris Johnson who was subject to multiple of his minister's resignations this week because of endless lying:- I won't make any major policy changes

Cabinet (and other ministers):- ok then! No concerns there!

Cedilla · 08/07/2022 22:33

Is it true that Jenkyns - she of the middle finger and the shouting at the crowd - actually used to be a teacher?

DH just told me he’d read that Steve Baker has withdrawn his candidacy and announced he’s supporting Suella Braverman. I’ve no idea whether this can be right either. I’m in a state of complete shock, having accidentally stumbled across a rancid Twitter thread of true believers who actually think that Braverman is, and I quote, 'very clever', 'impressive', and 'has real mettle'. But they’re worried that she might be too soft on immigration like Priti Patel Shock Yes, really.

I suppose it’s useful to be reminded what some people out there actually do believe. But my god, it’s terrifying.

Piggywaspushed · 08/07/2022 22:44

The other new Education minister who wore a mask on his willie was a teacher. Don't think Jenkyns was.

I am far from being a supporter of the Tory party, but from what I understand the delay is because all Party members vote.

The MPs vote to get to the final two candidates by successive rounds of voting with the person coming last knocked out each time.

The final two are chosen by all Party members through a postal ballot, and it just takes time to send them all out, and allow a reasonable amount of time for people to fill them in and send them back. Then they need to be counted.

Or they could venture into the 21st century and email the forms.

Cedilla · 08/07/2022 22:50

I just looked her up, Piggywaspushed, and apparently she was a music tutor in a secondary school Hmm

I do know she gave herself whiplash and concussion by spinning around too violently on her own office chair.

Igotjelly · 08/07/2022 19:26

I know a fair few people who have worked with Boris and most of them do acknowledge that he’s A. Very intelligent B. Pretty charismatic. The bumbling baffoon act is just that, an act.

And the fact he’s wealthy doesn’t hurt.

People I have come across who worked with him say that he is primarily incredibly lazy.

AmaryIlis · 08/07/2022 22:56

ancientgran · 08/07/2022 20:01

Apparently good old Nadine wants to be a disruptor candidate. Just what we need at the moment, plenty of disruption.

They have to have 20 MP signatures before candidacy will be accepted. Something tells me she may struggle.
