tobee · 06/07/2022 19:41

Cat crack innit?

scamander · 06/07/2022 19:42

Larry has existential questions to think about and they bloody won't shut the door. "What if the next PM is allergic to cats?"

@Isaidnoalready Years ago, in the course of a work event, I had the ‘pleasure’ of meeting Nick Griffin when he was an MEP. Once you’ve removed all the obvious words to describe him (vile racist and so on), Od sum him up with a word - clammy.

They all feel clammy to me these days - the whole cabinet, the whole Conservative party tbh. A clammy, grubby little bunch.

I don't actually trust the Downing Street staff now, either. Even when the elected ones go, the civil servants are still there. And the civil servants who I used to trust, are part of the whole rotten business. Covering for him.

There are a lot of Whitehall civil servants who despise Johnson because of his lack of integrity. And don't forget it is Lord McDonald, former civil servant, who arguably started this ball rolling. It is the Spads who do most of the covering up and the ever changing lines to take. Civil servants aren't allowed to engage in anything that is "political", which handling this mess certainly is.

JRM went in a little while ago by a side door. He says that BJ has his full support and that of Queen Victoria.

mbosnz · 06/07/2022 19:44

Larry for PM! And a catflap!

mbosnz · 06/07/2022 19:45

Been to a seance has he? Bless him.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 06/07/2022 19:46

Could Boris pick any 22 MP's to become the Cabinet or is there a process he has to go through ? And does anyone think there are 22 out of the 350 or so who are self serving enough to go for it ?

picklemewalnuts · 06/07/2022 19:47

Thanks for the explanation about the Spads. That makes sense.

While a couple were clearly leaking and pushing, I just couldn't see how they were functioning without a significant number colluding in the crap. But Spads fit the bill.

Cheguevarahamster · 06/07/2022 19:47

This is an extraordinary evening.

ilovesooty · 06/07/2022 19:47

New thread. Great 😁

ladymalfoy45 · 06/07/2022 19:48

@guinnessguzzler I'd love to discuss it with Alastair Cambell .

Saucery · 06/07/2022 19:48

Sir Charles Walker looks like he’s trying to hypnotise Cathy Newman on CH4 News.
He needs to try that on Johnson. “It’s over….OVER….look into my eyes, not around the eyes….it’s OVER”.

curiousitygotthebetterofme · 06/07/2022 19:48

Was watching ITV news this evening - is BJ likely to resign tonight??

ClaudineClare · 06/07/2022 19:50

Will any ambitious backbench MP want to take a job, when it is clear that Johnson is finished? It would be career suicide.

I keep thinking about what that civil servant said on LBC. We are now approaching failed state territory. We have no functional government.

Saucery · 06/07/2022 19:52

They could come over all Zahawi, take the job, turn round and bite Johnson’s arse?

Notonthestairs · 06/07/2022 19:54

NEW: PM ally tells me he 1/ is not going to resign 2/ he fights on 3/ More appointments tonight

Told that Brady told PM they’d be an elex on Mon & and could result in another confidence and could result in him losing that vote 1/

He's going to drag this out.

mbosnz · 06/07/2022 19:55

So, the man has no honour (stipulated), and is divorced from reality.

WaitroseWoman · 06/07/2022 19:57

Shapps and Dorries have departed No 10. Lewis should be arriving around now.

Igotjelly · 06/07/2022 19:59

Speaking of SpAds has anyone heard anything from Dominic? Surprised he hasn’t been giving it the “I told you so”

Arcadia · 06/07/2022 19:59

I've just read that they are unable to fill the ministerial posts now as MPs are refusing.

vera99 · 06/07/2022 20:01

Downing Street now...

This is an extraordinary evening.

I quote, overheard: 'Mummy must be in a very good mood because she's allowing us sweeties on a Wednesday night!' 'I know! I think it's to do with Boris, she says he's going'.
