Zahawi has just gone into No 10

Roussette · 05/07/2022 20:42

I think pray Moggy will lose his seat in NESomerset.

I just saw Clav on "another thread" so she's still raking in the shekels

Has that thread been deleted?

WaitroseWoman · 05/07/2022 20:46

Yes- looking behind the scenes.

Notonthestairs · 05/07/2022 20:48

"Rumour seems to be Barclay to Health and Truss to Treasury."

Well that would be a poisoned chalice for Truss - it's not as if we have good times ahead. Might sink her eventual leadership bid which would suit Johnson. She's silly enough to take it.

Roussette · 05/07/2022 20:49

BREAKING Steve Barclay is the new Health Secretary

No idea why. No experience remotely relevant

tobee · 05/07/2022 20:49

Yes @DuncinToffee it is hidden. It was a rubbish troll imho

Roussette · 05/07/2022 20:50

If Truss becomes Chancellor, I will think they are actually taking the piss now. It may as well be Larry The Cat.
She has no qualifications whatsoever. Would she really take this job?

No doctor's uniform? Grin

Chancellor vacancy a bit more desperate

tobee · 05/07/2022 20:51

The tennis was great btw! Got my ds to rush with political updates!!

tobee · 05/07/2022 20:52

*rush in

Notonthestairs · 05/07/2022 20:53

Is Steve Barclay still chief of staff? How could he possibly do both jobs?

Scum rises to the top...

Notonthestairs · 05/07/2022 20:55

Zahawi as Chancellor seems to be the rumour. Madness for him to hang on in there - Zahawi that is.

Yea complete madness.

He's actually a Tory MP who hasn't risen to the ranks of being despised yet. He's have been better to keep his head down or join the ranks of the great exit.

No, not any more. Just Health Secretary

Which opens up Chief of Staff vacancy and Duchy position.

Apparently, it is very unusual to have this long with a Chancellor not appointed. Maximum an hour is the norm. Because the markets get shaky. Is he trying to talk our Liz into the job because there's no-one else?

I'm having quite a good day. It's my silver wedding anniversary, the tennis has been fabulous with a Brit through to the Semifinal (well done Norrie), and now these resignations. The icing on the cake will be if Johnson goes before midnight

As far as those resigning goes, for me they are at least 6 months later than anyone with any honour would have gone and I don't think they should be anywhere near power again ever, but at least it's a start.

itsgettingweird · 05/07/2022 21:03

Happy anniversary Grin

Roussette · 05/07/2022 21:06

Crosbie, PPS to the Wales office has resigned with an extremely damning resig letter directed at Johnson

Yes, what a day. I was all of a dooo daaaah, not knowing whether to watch News or Norrie Grin

TokyoSushi · 05/07/2022 21:10

I've a terrible feeling that we're still not at the end of this. There seems to still be enough people to prop him up.

Are we going to have to pin our hopes on a change of rules at the 1922?

Anybody else would resign, but he just won't...

He has been hugely successful in his role as chief of staff, as the Downing Street operation has been fantastically coordinated and in control of the circumstances.

"Stand off in No10.

Boris wants Liz Truss to become Chancellor.

But Nadhim Zahawi says he will quit if he isn't moved from Education to No11."

Yes I suppose Barclay has been a glorious success!

The death throes are really undignified.
