MIL tattooed DS's name...

... We have just had a baby, 2 weeks ago, MIL immediately tattooed baby boys name on her arm.

However, we have since had a change of heart re the name... What a nightmare!

We didnt ask her to, or knew she was doing it, it's obviously really sweet of her to do it so that's not the problem it's more just now we dont want to call him that.

I feel awful! How on earth do we handle this? I'm really trying to talk myself into keeping the name, but it doesnt sit right...

So hoping this is true....

I'd definitely go with the goldfish idea Grin

mathanxiety · 29/06/2022 17:16

Go ahead with the new name.

Buy her a nice big bangle.

Or look at it this way - she clearly has a lot of names already and surely an extra one isn't going to make a lot of difference?

She can just add the new name, and she has a built in funny story to use as an ice breaker.

hellcatspangle · 29/06/2022 17:17

Is he called John Thomas 😂

Maireas · 29/06/2022 17:20

Didn't the other thread end up with the MIL changing it to an animal picture?

Mailista · 29/06/2022 17:20

@HereIAmBrainTheSizeOfAPlanet

You can say 'fuck the Daily Mail' all you like: it won't stop the stories from being lifted. It might even be regarded as a bit goady.

I'd change my MIL rather than my child's name, if I found out she'd been turning anything to do with my family into a bit of inking.

Can you give her a goldfish with the original name, so at least her tattoo relates to 'someone' in her life?

Surely the goldfish has to be called Gail?

It was 100% her decision to rush out and and get it but be prepared to be the evil DIL forever for the audacity to not register little Regina Deenus.

Is it wrong that I'm now wracking my brains trying to think of a boy's name that sounds like dubious body part🤔 please someone put me out of my misery😂

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 29/06/2022 17:27

Woody Cox

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 29/06/2022 17:31

It's probably William, sounds like Willy. Except is doesn't - do you know any Willys? (Snort!)

Remainiac · 29/06/2022 17:31

Hilarious, funniest thread for ages, even if it isn’t true. As DS2 would say, this is a “her” problem. Love the idea of putting a line through it 🤣

Dick?

Monkeytapper · 29/06/2022 17:44

Can she get a dog or cat with the name so she doesn’t look daft?

Pasithea · 29/06/2022 17:47

really wouldn’t want to be associated with someone who does that type of thing anyway. Run.

Mossstitch · 29/06/2022 17:48

@AmaryIlis can't be, nobody would be a big enough D.. K to have that tattooed on their arm surely🤷😂

boopdeflouff · 29/06/2022 17:50

Just tell her. Then she can get 'Gary, previously known as Wayne' added.

Best comment of the day !! 🤣

StaunchMomma · 29/06/2022 18:03

I'm trying to figure out what the name could be but all my sleep-deprived brain is throwing up is Nobber and Pussgina, which I'm thinking are unlikely.

Just go for something normal and make the 2nd middle name Dickcheese, OP. MIL can use it as her nickname for your DS.

My friends MIL doesn't have her grandchild's name tattooed on her.

But she does have the names of her son's ex girlfriend's children tattooed on her. Not his children, and were born years after they had broken up (so he's never even played a step-parent role in their lives).

Not really relevant but it's so fucking bizarre that I love any excuse to tell that story.

To answer some questions, I've no fucking clue. She's very strange.

For a present, my friend made a collage photo frame of her son for her MIL. The MIL fucking hid it (and everything else related to her actual grandchild) when she invited not-her-grandchildren over so not to "upset" their mum.

Her son dated her when they were teenagers. They're in their mid-late 30s now...

TonTonMacoute · 29/06/2022 18:14

It's really not your problem though, is it.

Let your DP sort it out, it's his mother, why should you have to do it?

Chikapu · 29/06/2022 18:16

Janus maybe?

Ithinkwemightgetaholiday · 29/06/2022 18:16

My MIL told people we had called DS a long version of the name we actually called him. BIL and gf had a Build-a-bear made with the birth certificate on the same day DS was born...and we had to tell them that wasn't his name.
This is another level 😂

Americano75 · 29/06/2022 18:18

This is so going to end up in a tabloid. 😆
