MIL tattooed DS's name...

... We have just had a baby, 2 weeks ago, MIL immediately tattooed baby boys name on her arm.

However, we have since had a change of heart re the name... What a nightmare!

We didnt ask her to, or knew she was doing it, it's obviously really sweet of her to do it so that's not the problem it's more just now we dont want to call him that.

I feel awful! How on earth do we handle this? I'm really trying to talk myself into keeping the name, but it doesnt sit right...

😂😂😂😂😂 sorry can't stop laughing

Mamamoo12 · 30/06/2022 19:23

You shouldn’t have to even keep it as a middle name if you don’t like it. It’ll be easy enough for her to get a cover up….I’ve had many!! I don’t think she’ll think you changed the name to spite her but then again that depends on your relationship. What does your DP say? You’ll all see the funny side one day.

I must be bored, because now I’m thinking about names that sound like body parts.

I’ll start:

Joe or Beau - Toe
Fred or Ned - Head
Greg - Leg
Elvis - Pelvis
Ace or Chace - Face
Keith - Teeth
Kip - Lip
Dick - well….

😁

Sidney?
Hart?
River?
Cowell?

Oh this has made me chuckle; what a daft bloody thing to do talk about impulsive, at least wait until the birth has been registered!! It’s not your problem he’s your child, name him as you choose; hubbies just going to have to man up & tell mummy dearest that you’ve both decided babies name is ** not what she’s got emblazoned on her arm; not being funny but grannies with tattoos are not exactly attractive; she can have it lazered off so no need to fret too much 🤣🤣🤣

rogueone · 30/06/2022 19:30

well she was foolish ...we had a name for your last DC and changed it three weeks after he was born just in time for registering the birth. I feel for your MIL as she must have believed it was a done deal but it is what it is and she will need to get over it.

theremustonlybeone · 30/06/2022 19:33

sounds like you named him Ned aka head...go for Kit as its cool Grin

alwaysneedanap · 30/06/2022 19:36

😂

Jellybean23 · 30/06/2022 19:39

You can't saddle your boy with an unsuitable name just because gran was hasty. She should have mentioned it before having it done.

NeedSomeHeadspace · 30/06/2022 19:48

Always classy, a name tattoo!

beautyisthefaceisee · 30/06/2022 19:49

Do NOT keep it because she has a tattoo of it. Its awkward, but ultimately do whats right for you.

di2004 · 30/06/2022 19:58

Tattoo removal? Oh dear!

crazymomma93 · 30/06/2022 20:00

That is brilliant!!
But on a serious note its her problem, she chose to do that, its up to her to deal with it. Imagine having to call your son a name you don't like, for the rest of your life, because of her mistake. Imagine if whatever body part, gets cottoned on to at school and he gets bullied for it. Thats when it really will hit home. Change his name. Her cock up. Funny as f though 🤣😂😆😄

Spritelite · 30/06/2022 20:01

You’ll have to buy her a pet who can use the name😂

Tulipomania · 30/06/2022 20:04

I had a similar problem. We changed DS name as soon as he was born. A well-meaning relative gave us a silver Tiffany spoon with the old initials engraved on it.

oakleaffy · 30/06/2022 20:14

Can she not get a red X inked across the name with the new name underneath?

Just send her this op 😬🤣

Youcansaythatagainandagain · 30/06/2022 20:37

It’s not your problem that she decided to do something most people wouldn’t dream of doing. If she did it that quickly, it’s obvious it’s just another crappy tattoo that she hasn’t thought much about. You should not use the name as a first or middle name unless you actually want to use it yourself.

OMG wouldn't you die off??? Poor mil. At least op was really nice about her!

Hmm1234 · 30/06/2022 20:47

Is she a chav? A bracelet wouldn’t do just had to be a tattoo as soon as they baby was born

She's got tattoos of her children and grandchildren. How many bracelets do you suggest she wears?

Bit rude.

YellowSticker · 30/06/2022 21:33

Surely a made up story.

Please let it be made up.

Gran with tattoos, bad enough when youngsters do this. Poor baby, but poor mummy being saddled with this when she wants to concentrate on a new baby.

It’s a worry the Gran is so impulsive. Where is Dad in all this?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 30/06/2022 21:35

Where is Dad in all this?

On the other arm?

BanjoVio · 30/06/2022 21:35

Paaahahahaaaaa 🤣🤣 I’m so sorry but that’s very funny. Also, you can’t possibly keep a name you don’t want just because she makes ridiculous choices. What a spanner!

Missync · 30/06/2022 21:57

@SheldonesqueTheBstard 😂!!!
