I'm wording this terribly but I'll give an example or two to show what I mean.

I was on holiday in the Dominican Republic and I was very ill from the malaria pills we'd been advised to take and could barely eat the whole time there. We went to a local store after 5 or so days of this and bought Milky Way bars(U.S Mars bars), cans of Cola and little tubs of plain Pringles. The food stayed down and somehow tasted incredible. I still dream of that meal.

Also the packs of little biscuits you get in hotels. I buy biscuits at home but somehow I get excited by seeing what mini packs of biscuits they have. Also the tea selection.

And when I was a kid, those little multipack boxes of cereal somehow always tasted much better than cereal from the big packs.

Does anyone else have any other examples? It doesn't have to be food related.

Anything mini for me.

Purplecatshopaholic · 18/06/2022 16:45

Mini toiletries. Love them. No real idea why!

florianfortescue · 18/06/2022 16:52

Individually wrapped portions of cheese always taste better to me than a chunk off a block.

OompaLoompaa · 18/06/2022 16:55

Easter egg chocolate tastes nice than normal chocolate.

I marvel at being able to afford - both in time and money - a hot bath whenever I want one.

we weren’t completely brassic growing up, but baths for fun were definitely not encouraged, and I get a thrill of delight every single time I have one now.

Rosewaterblossom · 18/06/2022 17:32

Yes to anything mini... especially mini jams in the glass jars!

sittingnexttochoppysea · 18/06/2022 17:36

Using a sellotape dispenser when wrapping presents!
Bought myself a heavy duty one a few years ago, like the ones you see in offices. Every Christmas I'm very smug and enjoy the convenience and ease when wrapping presents... yes I know... I need to get a life! 😆

Uncut white bread still warm from bringing it home , lots of butter .
Food of the gods.

supersonicspider · 18/06/2022 18:14

Going to the supermarket without children.

Basilbrushgotfat · 18/06/2022 18:17

My morning tea in bed. Best tea of the day.

Posh-but-not-really chocolates

mackthepony · 18/06/2022 18:23

Individual cans of fizzy water

Way better than out of a bottle and in a glass

surreymum89 · 18/06/2022 18:58

First thing that pops to mind that is ordinary but always feels like the most amazing event/meal is the post birth tea and toast , for me especially as having HG and feeling awful my entire pregnancy and not being able to stomach or have the desire for tea at all when I usually drink it multiple times a day then To suddenly an hour or so after giving birth have it again for the first time and it tastes so good , also to know that I won't vomit my toast and biscuits back up is such a relief and all this while holding my new baby , amazing!

Masonia · 18/06/2022 19:06

Hotel rooms with baths.

Being outdoors quite early on a sunny day, before everyone else is up. Feels quite magical and holiday-like somehow.

Agree with Easter egg chocolate tasting better than normal chocolate too!

PortalooSunset · 18/06/2022 19:25

The one dollar chilli in a Styrofoam box at the top of Mount Washington where it was absolutely bloody freezing was food of the gods! Not going to lie, I went back for seconds 😋

anxiousatnight · 18/06/2022 19:28

@sittingnexttochoppysea I also bought one of these a few years ago, so I share in your smugness when wrapping presents!

Mossstitch · 18/06/2022 20:15

@sittingnexttochoppysea I'm jealous, the sellotape gets me in a rage every time I have to wrap presents and loose the end. So much so I put one of those on my birthday present amazon wishlist this year........ Nobody bought it me so I am still without😭 you have reminded me that I must buy myself one before christmas🤔🎄

You must treat yourself to one! I promise it's the best fiver you'll ever spend! @anxiousatnight will back me up on that! 😆😆

niki26 · 18/06/2022 20:20

@anxiousatnight @sittingnexttochoppysea could you link to the heavy duty sellotape dispensers?

I have two separate containers - one for Christmas and one for birthday wrapping paper and included in each is a pair of scissors and a sellotape dispenser with a couple of spare rolls but last time I used it I was thinking it wasn't great - so if you have recommendations I'd be interested!

@sittingnexttochoppysea ah see what you mean! Thank you!

Mine are the hand ones, the ones that sort of sit on your middle finger - so you can hold the paper with your finger and still rip the tape off ..... the first Christmas I used it I was smug beyond belief but since then I've been wasting a lot of tape as I've been finding it harder to rip off!

Mushroomlady · 18/06/2022 20:53

Agree with mini toiletries.
Hot chocolate. Just in general. Don't think I've ever had one that didn't feel special.
Freshly washed sheets or new socks.
Thermos of tea when you're out somewhere cold and far from home, especially when you don't usually remember to pack one..

At my primary school if it was someone's birthday they brought in a packet of biscuits and handed them out on a plate to everyone in the class. One each. To this day they are still the best biscuits I remember eating.

onepieceoflollipop · 18/06/2022 20:59

Making a small cake or pudding of my own choice.
(other people can have a piece but I choose the flavour)
recently bought 2 pieces of rhubarb from a farm shop.
made a crumble with it. (2 portions)
made myself a small coffee cake once with lush butter cream

Rogue1001MNer · 18/06/2022 20:59

Not very seasonal, but treading on virgin snow.

Oooo. And breaking into a new jar of instant coffee

MayBeee · 18/06/2022 21:00

If you type heavy duty sellotale dispenser into Amazon you will find them.

Livpool · 18/06/2022 22:58

I live the biscuits toy get in hotels - it is the first thing I look for 🤦🏼‍♀️

Anything mini - toiletries and spirits
