You can only pick ONE!

No barking dogs
No cigarette smoking
No lawn mowing/strimming
No shrieking children
No BBQs/fire pits
No hot tubs/pools
No arguing
No DIY
No music playing
No ball games

It's a tough one for me, but I'm going to go for 'No barking dogs'!!

Revving their car engine before driving off

Remembertotakeabreak · 17/06/2022 20:11

I’d have to pick cigarette smoking - allergic and can’t stand it esp on a hot day

Cherrysoup · 17/06/2022 20:12

No dog barking. I’m delighted that mine haven’t copied the yappy little git.

dubyalass · 17/06/2022 20:15

Torn between music and barking dog. Currently suffer with both.

On balance, barking dog.

I'd also add "outdoor TV". That notion needs stopping in its tracks.

Gizlotsmum · 17/06/2022 20:15

My neighbours are pretty good so think I’ll go with no smoking… but it would be different if they played rubbish music loud

QuebecBagnet · 17/06/2022 20:19

I’d pick music.

frogswimming · 17/06/2022 20:20

My neighbours don't do any of those things! Or if they do not loud / often enough so it bothers me.

Trulyweird1 · 17/06/2022 20:21

I have pretty good neighbours, but the kid banging his football at and over the fence all summer long, does push my buttons.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/06/2022 20:23

I'd go for 'not putting excess food for the birds (inc slices of white bread) on the lawn and attracting rats'.

madamecake · 17/06/2022 20:24

It’s not exactly on your list, but no smoking weed!

The mum and 2 dc that live next door seem lovely, but the husband sits in the back garden most evenings smoking a spliff. It’s stopping me from opening the windows as DS’s room which is at the back of the house was starting to stink of it!

ProudThrilledHappy · 17/06/2022 20:24

Walking across my front garden all the time rather than taking 5 extra steps to the footpath (weird cul de sac layout where their house and drive face the side and back garden of my property)

novacancy3 · 17/06/2022 20:26

Outdoor tv would be my choice too if it were on the list.

Somanysocks · 17/06/2022 20:27

My neighbours do a few but it's got to be no smoking, that would be bliss.

Blossomtoes · 17/06/2022 20:27

Breathing.

Svara · 17/06/2022 20:27

No ball games. For five years I've had sometimes multiple balls daily come flying into my small garden. Full size footballs and basketballs. The basketball hoop is new and they hit the fence repeatedly right outside my sitting room. The children most often responsible are old enough to go to the park.

woodpecker2 · 17/06/2022 20:28

Not on your list but No cats, as i lost another bird today.

Summersolargirl · 17/06/2022 20:30

None really, I am more for mutual respect.

OddBoots · 17/06/2022 20:31

No smoking (including weed), I find smell the most intrusive thing over noise and these stink whereas BBQ isn't anything like as bad.

Whereismumhiding4 · 17/06/2022 20:31

My top 4 bad neighbour behaviours that'd drive me mad
No playing tap where I have to listen to it!
No barking dogs all day (tho I like a bit of woofs!)
No shrieking children all day every day (tho I don't mind sound of a bit of kiddie high jinks!)
No repairing cars for years on their driveway collecting them like an old car graveyard
No parking to block my drive!!!

I moved 17 years ago and my neighbours here all around are are fab !!! -but *shudder .... I remember those noisy neighbour days ...

Whereismumhiding4 · 17/06/2022 20:32

No playing RAP (I didn't mean to type 'tap'!!)

MintJulia · 17/06/2022 20:35

None of those bother me. We have deer that bark endlessly so dogs don't bother me.

The only issue I've ever had with a neighbour was one who threatened me because he could hear my very ordinary alarm clock. ( he worked shifts).

So I'd choose to stop his threats.

majorquimby · 17/06/2022 20:36

Big toss up between shrieking children and music.....based on current neighbours I'd go with shrieking children as their music doesn't go on too late, but in general I'd go for music, children generally run out of steam at some point.

2pinkginsplease · 17/06/2022 20:38

I’d stop one side smoking out their kitchen window as we can smell it in our bedroom 🤮 and the other side is stop him parking right on the line of my drive meaning I have to swerve to drive in/reverse out! I’ve asked him so many times to park a foot further forward and he does it for a week and then reverts back to being a prick!

MarmiteCoriander · 17/06/2022 20:44

No shrieking children!!!

I stayed with my mother for several months after her hip replacement and the kids next door were left run wild (feral). Screaming off their balcony at 6am to 'say goodbye to mummy' then on bin day allowed to scream off the balcony at the bin men, using a leafblower to chase the other siblings around the garden till late at night, and constant, high pitched squealing! No SEN issues either. When a fence panel broke- the boys urinated through to our side of the fence! 😳

Blue4YOU · 17/06/2022 20:44

I am your smoking neighbour! I have a big garden. Yep it possibly wafts, I hope not.
i don’t care what anyone does in their garden or house as long as it’s not harming someone.
but… I do wish one of my neighbours would pull his blind gown before stripping off to his hock and balls.
