I’d love to know what she threatened him with under her breath 😂

Well I’ve had a lot of children and not one of them is ever put their hand over my mouth. I just thought it was really disrespectful of him.

Kate was in an impossible situation I’d imagine if he was to try that nonsense at home he would’ve got one of aunt Lucys hard stares.

changedsoicanrage · 05/06/2022 22:57

She's a legend, I cannot imagine how stressed she must have been and how knackered she must be feeling now. What a job!

Set impossible task for small child.
Child fails impossible task.

No surprise is it. It’s not “badly behaved” to not be able to do something many adults still can’t. This is how Bruno ended up in the walls with the rats.

We don't talk about Louis.

Kate is great. My kids wouldn't have sat through that

vera99 · 05/06/2022 22:58

Thank <God> we're going back to 'normal' now - 25% of the country has had to endure acres of forelock-tugging guff to last for our lifetimes. Have watched none of it but had a great time elsewhere. As you were...

I was never a fan of Kate and William but felt they were a breath of fresh air after Charles etc.
However Just before COVID and then during COVID I started going off them, comments that willam made, poking fun with the medic's over People being worried about a cough and so on. Then the endless pained faces staring into zoom.

However, I think Catherine was /looked absolutely sensational this weekend!
She looked amazing, her eye makeup looked fab, she got through some Very tricky day's,she looked extremely uncomfortable in at Paul's.
It must have been arkward and embarrassing for her with Megan there after her speaking her truth re the bridesmaid cry.

She's got a handful 4 year old and two other Very young children, to handle but also cope with being on display. Knowing that they will also be abused in SM...as well as lauded.
She looked amazing on the balcony and I just think thank goodness the royal go outside that aristo gene pool.
How utterly proud carol must be!
Louis is the spit of Micheal.

Fucking hell 😂

Was reading for your insight then I realised it was all about how amazing Kate looked 😂

I have brought up 2 sons and I taught children from nursery to year 6 for 20 years. I have watched the clip several times and I am a bit surprised at the gestures he uses. Covering his mother's mouth twice and then waving dismissively at her whilst looking away is very rude. I would expect a child to use the thumb on the nose gesture to another child , but not to a parent ,and never ever in the company of both parents and grandparents. Maybe times have changed but I wouldn't have done that to my parents and my children wouldn't have done it to me. Physical punishment was never used to me or by me to my children. His situation is unusual and the children have probably done too much this weekend but I am surprised by his behaviour. Maybe I am out of date with how things are.

I thought the same too so I think we're both out of date, going off Mumsnet

On here teenagers are apparently ungrateful and selfish and you just have to suck it up. And it's also normal for four year olds to put their hands over your mouth repeatedly to make you shut up and otherwise be rude to you to you

Meltinthemiddle · 05/06/2022 23:11

Got to love kids it doesn't matter who they are or what what their upbringing is like they are just themselves even when the worlds eyes are on them. Kate must have been so stressed knowing that everyone would sieze the opportunity to criticise her parenting and label her children naughty! But she handled amazingly and calmly. How many fo yoh have threatened their kids in publicwith the warning wait til we can't back in the car and let rip 😬😂. Anyway whilst some may call him naughty for acting like a cheeky 4 year old who is probably bored I will say he has simply has character.

Some of the replies on that thread are so mean, even turning this into a Meghan vs Kate thing. "Archie would never!". Well how would you know, you've only seen him once!

All the lip reading experts telling us William told skate she looks beautiful, and assorted guff. This is the lip reading moment we want

Yes

That would only happen if they were given a constant stream of toys etc to keep them occupied, or if they were drugged or scared. Hardly a valid comparison.

AppleKatie · 05/06/2022 23:16

It’s not normal as in ‘tolerated’ it’s normal as in can happen infrequently.

it was a few seconds and she did put a stop to it. Practically with her hands tied behind her back, she couldn’t make a scene or appear too bothered with the cameras watching. I’m sure if it had occurred in her own home she would have stopped it much more quickly, but Lois is consciously or unconsciously testing boundaries here. Being out with mummy in ‘work’ mode is new for him and he’s doing what most kids of that age do, finding out what will happen if!

Haffiana · 05/06/2022 23:18

I think that some of the holier-than-thou replies on here from the parents with the perfectly behaved children who would 'never' thumb their nose or put a foot wrong etc etc simply shows the depth of their delusion about their children.

We all know parents like you.

DS1 would do stuff like that and worse while we were out.I was clearly a terrible parent. The difference being I could say 'Right that's it we're going home, I'm not putting up with that behaviour any more' but that wasn't possible for Kate today, I think she dealt with it as well as she could with the world watching.

Some of the replies on Twitter are really nasty

You must be new

Meltinthemiddle · 05/06/2022 23:36

I think it was alot for a just turned 4 year old to sit through. Some of the adults even looked bored and were on their phones behind them!

Fizbosshoes · 05/06/2022 23:38

I think all the small kids did really well, my DH got really impatient waiting for the flyover on Thursday , and we hadn't watched trooping of the colour first! 🤣

friendlycat · 05/06/2022 23:41

I thought all the children did very well. It was a long session to be sitting on seats in a restrictive setting.

Not at all surprising that he got bored and Kate did exceedingly well to diffuse the situation. I thought she looked nervous on the balcony at the end obviously desperately hoping that Louis would get through the final moments without any fuss (which he did). She obviously knew all cameras were on them wholeheartedly then as a historic moment and must have felt stressed that the children remain calm.

It’s quite difficult to imagine the noise and scenes and atmosphere that standing on that balcony overlooking a mass sea of people must be like for anyone, let alone young children who by then have had a long afternoon of behaving quietly and sitting still.

TrifleFunny · 05/06/2022 23:41

I noticed it was all left to Kate, I hope someone poured her a huge glass of wine tonight.

Poor kid has just been through a pandemic and not had much opportunity to practise. The Harry and Megan stuff must have been upsetting and hurtful too. Kate did brilliantly..

HRTQueen · 05/06/2022 23:43

dustandroses · 05/06/2022 19:42

I agree. I think this is the reason they have stayed away from the events, every move would be criticised.

I agree and it would get terribly nasty and be allowed to stand on the comments of particular papers

normal behaviour from a little boy he looks cute

SleepSleepRaveAsleep · 05/06/2022 23:44

I felt sorry for them the amount of shite they've been subjected to the past few days. He was just pushing the boundaries with her, I bet he wouldn't do that with the nanny that is raising him, he's just testing the strange woman at the side of him 😆, like kids do with a supply teacher. I'm only half joking, it doesnt look like he realises she's in charge, almost like someone else disciplines him. I've 3 kids slightly younger than the Cambridges kids but similar age gaps to their kids, my kids have never put their hand over my mouth to stop me talking or done that ner ner ner ner face he's doing to her.

I do just pitty them though, being paraded around, it's no life for a child.
