I mean WTF?

Radio 2 listeners were polled and chose this old song (now associated with football and irresponsible gambling advertising on TV) as the song we're all supposed to sing to Elizabeth on her jubilee?

I should have put this in AIBU. AIBU to not be able to get my head round it? I find it embarrassing actually.

I heard that as I drove out this morning and assumed I had misheard something.

Yes it's truly weird. I saw a news segment about it, it was a popular football song (?) and now apparently we all love it. Very British and I'm sure the Queen loves it

It's ridiculous and was SO overplayed / sung that it's actually now grating to listen to.

I’ m surprised! I live close to a rugby pub where this is always the last song played and assumed it had some king of rugby club connection.

It’s a boxing song to me , they play it before the main bout at most televised boxing events - can’t fathom what it’s got to do with the jubilee .

Why does radio 2 get to decide? Surely it should be the national anthem or something by Queen

I don't think we are allowed to, we had to be inclusive of the Swiss and Italians when it came to trufle 🤣

I also think Baddiel and Skinner's three lions is a more appropriate football song
