Or is it just first time applications?
If i apply today, does anyone know the chances of me getting it by the end of June?..

I did mine online, took own photo. Posted old passport off and received new one 10 days later.

Darkroot · 01/06/2022 10:08

Oh wonderful! Did you do that recently?

I did two kid renewals on 27th April - both went to different offices.

The one that went to Belfast was back on 27th May.

The one that went to Newport has had nothinggggg done to it.

Luck of the draw which office it gets sent to it looks like!

StressyMcStressFace · 01/06/2022 10:16

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I applied back at the beginning of feb and still haven't received it. We travel in 20 days. I have made numerous phonecalls and even emailed but still nothing. Sorry to bring the tone down but I'm feeling really sorry for myself about the whole thing 😭

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 01/06/2022 10:16

I sent two renewals off. On child to adult and one child. One to Newport and one to Glasgow. One took 3 weeks the other 4.

you might be ok, but you’d be playing a dangerous game.

Dominuse · 01/06/2022 10:23

I went into the post office and she said direct was the quickest way. Applied 14 th May through the post office. Text yesterday saying approved and new passport will be posted within 7 days and I can track it via a code.
the direct online way via the post office seems the best.

after 10 weeks eg the poster that said February I would be raising a massive issue - phone them

twilightcafe · 01/06/2022 10:26

Waiting for a renewal that I started in April.
This is after the Passport Office lost the first application last September Confused

HOTHotPeppers · 01/06/2022 10:29

My renewal took 3 weeks. DDs first passport is still sat at 'proof recieved' 4 weeks on.

Anyone know how the bootle office is getting on 🤣

HOTHotPeppers · 01/06/2022 10:30

Mine was Bootle. DDs is at Liverpool which seems much slower.

fancyfrogs · 01/06/2022 10:33

Agree seems to be pure luck and depends where it goes.
We had 1 renewal and ds first passport - sent off at same time. Renewal took 3 weeks, first passport took 4 weeks. Both at Bootle.
I think Durham seems really slow at the minute

Candyflosscrochet · 01/06/2022 10:41

Oh lord....what a s* show this passport business is atm!!
Online child renewal submitted 14 March....Old passport sent as requested then birth cert and my marriage cert sent as requested.....nothing has been done with it. Application went to Durham, passport to Hemel Hempstead and documents to Peterborough (why 3 different offices??!!)
I've chased, complained, had it escalated but still waiting. Only proof I have they have my original documents is the royal mail tracking reference showing they were signed for. I personally think they've lost them as I don't understand with the amount of emails the progress team have (apparently) sent, that they have not been uploaded to the system for verification.
Son is meant to be going on school trip to Ypres beg July....I very much doubt he will and I shall be causing a stink getting the cost of that trip refunded.
But then my aunt did an adult renewal beginning of May and she had her new passport a few days ago....only took 24 days!!
I just don't understand the such huge variations in timescales.

Oh wonderful! Did you do that recently?

Yes, received it back on Monday. Was sent regular texts by them and could track online too.

Darkroot · 01/06/2022 10:46

Wow, what on earth is going on? Who is running this shit show?

Keeping my fingers crossed that you all get your passports in time!

Not at all. We renewed both our sons passports online and they were back within 10 days.

Tee20x · 01/06/2022 10:55

DD first passport took about 3 weeks from application to having it in my hand - still waiting for her birth certificate back though!

prettybird · 01/06/2022 10:59

It seems to be a complete lottery.

Bootle seems to be one of the "good" ones: ds' renewal (but 1st adult one) took about 2 weeks. Very straightforward. 18 April applied on-line, old passport posted 19 April and returned on 3 May.

Dh's on-line renewal was done on 2 May, old passport was sent 1st class to Belfast on 3 May and it's been sitting at "processing" since 9 May.

Fortunately we don't have any imminent travel plans Grin

DottyLittleRainbow · 01/06/2022 10:59

We have been waiting since 3/4 for a standard child renewal.. it’s a roulette.

LaingsAcidTab · 01/06/2022 11:01

Two weeks from start to finish here. I wasn't expecting it and have been pleasantly surprised.

BIWI · 01/06/2022 11:03

Have you not seen the reports in the news, @Darkroot?!

There are massive delays right now.

Even the government is owning up to this

CupidStunt22 · 01/06/2022 11:03

Are you one of those people who doesn't ever follow the news?

Your chances of getting a p/p in your time frame are remote.

greatblueheron · 01/06/2022 11:05

Passport office isn't fit for purpose.
Nor is the DVLA.

Black holes with luck of the draw requests for passports, passport renewals and driving licenses. It's utterly shit. And the government doesn't have the back bone to get them back into the offices or fire them for refusing to do so.

mistermagpie · 01/06/2022 11:05

Someone I know has been waiting ages. She went to our local office yesterday and was told that if you renew online then the form can go anywhere and the local office can't do anything to help, even if they wanted to. If you renew at the post office it goes to the local office and then if all else fails you can at least turn up there and wait for help.

She said our local office were very helpful but couldn't progress her application.

Just in case this helps anyone else, might be worth paying extra to send via the post office service.

Handsnotwands · 01/06/2022 11:05

Husband’s renewal was back within 2 weeks

the docs for the kids first passports have been sitting in the passport office since May 4th but they’ve not yet registered that they’ve been received 🤷🏼‍♀️

morescrummythanyummy · 01/06/2022 11:09

Any experience of Peterborough? My son's BC not registering as yet.
