Or is it just first time applications?
If i apply today, does anyone know the chances of me getting it by the end of June?..

Please can anyone let me know how you see which office the application has gone to?

ThePoetsWife · 01/06/2022 11:18

Peterborough here. One of our adult renewals was done online very recently and it took ten days.

superram · 01/06/2022 11:24

I hope you mean causing a stink with the passport office about a refund and not school. School will take no responsibility if you don’t have the correct travel documents-if you are lucky they may fill the space but asking for a refund would be unreasonable and pointless.

Hullabaloo31 · 01/06/2022 11:27

Newer stuff seems to be going through more quickly, I've just done our childrens and they were back just shy of 3 weeks, and 2 weeks.

Would be pointless asking the p/p office to refund too...they advise you to not make bookings without a valid p/p and take no responsibility if you do so.

Sent off end of April for passport renewal - text from Passport office 19 May to say it had been received and to allow 10 weeks for it to be processed. Told 'do not call for update - they'll contact me if they need more information'. Not heard anything so assume all ok. Not received old passport back yet!

budgiegirl · 01/06/2022 11:49

We've just renewed our DD's passport (was a child passport, renewal was her first adult passport). Did the online application on 29th April, passport was received on 21st May, so just over 3 weeks, which I was quite surprised about due to the reports of how long it's been taking for some. This was the Peterborough office.

However, I know of several people who's passports took 2 months, and for one friend, they applied last October and it didn't get resolved until April (lots of problems with the passport office!)

So, it's a lottery. You might be lucky, you might not. I wouldn't book anything until you've got the passport, and if you have already booked a holiday, I would try to get a premium passport service, even though they're more expensive (if this is possible at the moment). It would be cheaper than losing out on the holiday.

Obviously I’ve seen the news 🙄 which is why I asked whether it was just first time applicants being delayed or if renewals were affected as well. Why would I have posted otherwise?

We applied early May, had a text to say allow 10 weeks and we should get it back by 22nd July. Good job as we go away on 26th July!

Because all the news reports are clear its not just first time applications.

OttersMayHaveShiftedInTransit · 01/06/2022 12:02

I sent an online renewal on 23rd April, had my acknowledgement that my identity confirmation was done on 24th April. When I check progress it is showing as 'being processed' on 29th April. Nothing since then - no change in online tracking, no contact to say they need anything just being processed.

Punxsutawney · 01/06/2022 12:03

My renewal went to Peterborough just over 3 weeks ago and I've had a text to say it should be delivered today.

And that means I’m not allowed to ask people for their personal experiences?

It's the office they asked you to send your old passport/documents in to.

RalphtheMouth · 01/06/2022 13:32

Thanks @HOTHotPeppers - it was a lost passport and the application was done online so nothing sent in (digital photos).

CambsDad · 01/06/2022 18:34

> get them back into the offices or fire them for refusing to do so.

I'm sorry, but that's just rubbish. I know for a fact that staff in the Peterborough office are in the office and have been throughout the pandemic except for two weeks back in March 2020. They're under-resourced and have been for years but blaming the staff is wide of the mark. These people are working really hard and have been throughout.

Entschuldigung · 01/06/2022 18:46

H applied online for his renewal at the beginning of May (6th, I think) and received the new passport on Fri, 27 May. It was processed at Durham.

SardineJam · 01/06/2022 18:52

Every year leading up to the summer I hear the same thing, surely this is nothing new?! Of course there is going to be a backlog when everyone is sending in their applications at the same time

supertedious · 01/06/2022 19:19

We had a child and adult renewal, took less than a month to receive new ones in May.

maturestudent74 · 01/06/2022 19:25

Been waiting since beginning of April. Stuck in processing. Rang, e mailed and nothing!

I had to ring and ask!

UrsulaPandress · 01/06/2022 19:26

One of mine is like that. Sent 23rd.accepted 24th and stuck in processing since 29th.

LadyLolaRuben · 01/06/2022 19:29

caringcarer · 01/06/2022 19:38
