Or is it just first time applications?
If i apply today, does anyone know the chances of me getting it by the end of June?..

My OH posted his special delivery last Monday, it arrived today - good luck!

LadyIckenham · 01/06/2022 19:47

I submitted three children's passport for renewal three weeks ago. First arrived within two weeks, the other exactly two weeks later and the third has turned up today. They went to Bootle, Belfast and Peterborough respectively. Only Belfast sent tracking texts but the site was updated.

Fingers crossed for those of you who are waiting.

TheFairyCaravan · 01/06/2022 19:47

I did mine online. From when they accepted my photo, they rejected the first one but I was in the middle of moving house so couldn’t resubmit for a couple of weeks, it took 4 days.

That was 2 weeks ago.

One of mine is like that. Sent 23rd.accepted 24th and stuck in processing since 29th.

How long do we have too wait before ignoring their don't call us we'll call message? I don't mind waiting but I'm worried that it is been looked at and forgotten about as they don't appear to have done anything with it for weeks.

Applied for both DC’s passports early May, both renewals. DD’s went to Liverpool and it been approved and we should get it in a few days time. DS’s went to Peterborough, they’ve requested his birth cert which we sent in yesterday, they stated it was to check for parental responsibility but Liverpool never requested that for DD, very odd.

I sent an online renewal on 23rd April, had my acknowledgement that my identity confirmation was done on 24th April. When I check progress it is showing as 'being processed' on 29th April. Nothing since then - no change in online tracking, no contact to say they need anything just being processed.

I have emailed them a couple of times and no response!
I rang them twice and both times said it is at Liverpool and just waiting in the pile to be seen by an examiner! I have accepted I probably will end up not going on holiday but it isn't fair when others are getting them back quickly.

Alwaystired99 · 01/06/2022 21:39

I applied online for an adult renewal 2 weeks ago and used a photo booth code. Heard this afternoon that the passport has just been printed and will be despatched in the next few days. Mine went to Glasgow and no complaints so far.
Next job is to apply for my daughter's first passport which I doubt will be quite so straightforward!

willowstar · 01/06/2022 22:24

Submitted child renewal about a month ago, just before the news broke about how long they are taking. Still waiting. Holiday this week cancelled 😔

Oddbutnotodd · 01/06/2022 22:41

Online renewal. Own photo. Old passport sent to Bootle. New passport printed within 2 days of receipt. Received 11 days from application.

Chasingsquirrels · 01/06/2022 22:46

I returned the original on 16 May.
Now waiting for it to be printed & despatched.
Liverpool.
Expired child passport to adult (16+) renewal.

Has anyone seen new appointments posted on the fast track service?

footiemum3 · 01/06/2022 22:56

I sent off for an adult renewal 12th May got a message today saying it has been approved and will be dispatched within 7 days. It seems Feb, March beginning of April are delayed but recent applications are getting through quickly, but obviously no guarantee.

phlebasconsidered · 02/06/2022 22:08

My son is still waiting from.1st April. They've lost all the documents. We will now have to pay for replacement documents and start again. I know they had them because they scanned them for my daughters application, which we got back after 6 weeks.

Pinklimey · 02/06/2022 22:25

Who is running this shit show?

gremlins, its always the gremlins...

PrincessesRUs · 02/06/2022 22:32

I did one for my daughter about three weeks ago - did it online - it was back in probably under a fortnight

DD’s back today. Still waiting on DS’s.

Apologies if this has already been answered.
How can you find out which passport office your application is with?

Also is there anyway at all to fired speed the application up if it gets really close to the wire?

We are due to fly out 7th July.
Acknowledgement of old passport received 7th June.

Panicking!

Punxsutawney · 11/06/2022 08:06

It will be the office that you sent your old passport to.

Sahgah · 11/06/2022 08:07

I sent mine off on the 18th May and got them back this week.

SassyGirl79 · 11/06/2022 08:26

10 weeks and still waiting, they’ve definitely received it as they messaged to say.. I’d never book a holiday without having a passport it’s not worth the risk.

Candyflosscrochet · 11/06/2022 08:50

I've finally had confirmation my sons has been approved, only 13 weeks since submitting it!! He travels on 6th July.
The passport office can only escalate it if its been 10wks since application and then you just have to wait until they you've got 2 weeks before you travel before they can trigger another process...why not just trigger it now rather than cause the stress for another few weeks??? Why woukd they be avle to action it in the final 2 weeks but cant before then???
They can't tell you how long it'll take once it's been escalated as none of the offices talk to each other and none of them record any notes on your application, so you have to repeat yourself several times to several different people only to be told that they can't see what the other department is doing and they'll send an email.
I've also been told the 10wk clock actually only starts once they've logged all supporting docs (not grom when youve sent them)....very frustrating that they sat on my documents for 3 weeks before actioning anything!!!
The system needs updating and better record keeping and management. And for the staff to stick to one story as I've had several different versions of what should and will happen.
I only found out I was being dealt with by 3 offices because of it being escalated. I don't really understand the difficulty in assigning a single office for each application??
It's beyond stressful and doesn't need to be.

Sparkesy · 11/06/2022 08:56

Online application, Sent off at the start of May to the Durham office, it arrived yesterday so took 5 weeks.
Very frustrating when updates from them are delayed/poor along with nightmare stories in the news. With travel booked and wait times extending its very stressful. Fingers crossed for everyone waiting

prettybird · 11/06/2022 09:18

@Candyflosscrochet - was it the helpline that told you 10 weeks from when they've logged all supporting documents? The helpline is not actually HMPO. They're outsourced call centre operatives and are wrong.

If/when you get through to a Management team (who are HMPO), they will (or should Wink) acknowledge that it is 10 weeks from receipt of application (worst case, when they received the documents which is usually a day or so later but not when they deigned to log them Hmm)

In theory, you don't need to pay for an upgrade if it's been more than 10 weeks, but it looks like in practice people are paying and then they'll have to fight to get the additional cost paid back.

Candyflosscrochet · 11/06/2022 09:46

@prettybird no it was the progress/ escalation/management team that told me that, as well as being told by them in another call it will be a maximum of 10wks....I get that the helpline is just a helpline/redirection service.
I didn't pay for it to be escalated, it happened because it was over 10wks since submission and he is travelling soon.
I was also told my documents hadn't been uploaded to the system (because they were sitting in a pile somewhere) and also told that they were definitely with the verifier (despite not being registered on the passport online tracking as been recieved). Just a lot of mis information and unnecessary toing and froing.
I won't count my chickens though until the passport is in my hand....

prettybird · 11/06/2022 10:00

They're being inconsistent in what they say then, as they've not made you pay anything as it's been 10 weeks since you submitted Confused

At least they're not claiming that everyone is now getting their passports in 6 weeks Grin like BJ claimed again at PMQs Angry

If that were the case, I'd be expecting dh's passport on Wednesday, rather than it being stuck in processing Hmm fortunately we don't have any immediate travel planned Wink and not even been approved yet, let alone gone to print. (straightforward renewal, no obvious reason for delay other than being in Belfast, unlike ds' 1st adult passport which was processed in 2 weeks in Bootle Hmm)
