BGT live semi finals

I've got tickets for the first BGT semi final but it's one of those where they give away too many tickets so you have to go and queue on the day.

In a moment of madness I've booked train tickets and a hotel on the off chance we manage to get in but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of this or any tips!

It's at Hammersmith appollo so I've booked hotel nearby as I'll have DD(8) with me so if we do get in I don't want to be dragging her on the tube late at night.

Our train gets into Euston at 9.10 so we'll tube it straight to Hammersmith to get in the queue but I'm wondering if we'll be too late even by then. I've seen something online from 2019 that said they started giving out tickets at 9.30 and all were gone by 11am... We would be there before 11am but probably only by half an hour.

If anyone has any experience of this let me know. I've already warned DD that we might not get tickets and that we'll have a lovely couple of days in London if we don't. Just want to know if I'm completely mad even trying to get tickets 😬

Oh that’s great doesn’t sound like you had too long of a wait. Was anyone turned away at this point yet? Guess your now free to go for a mooch around before having to go back for the show. Gives me hope for us going tomorrow

Let us know how it went. How staged, fake etc in particular.

Also what time do you have to be back? Considering it’s an 8pm show start time.

We didn't see anyone get turned away but we were quite near the front and headed off as soon as we had the tickets.

They said to come back for 7pm so there'll probably be a bit of hanging round later as well.

Brilliant! Were they handing out tickets already as you joined the queue? We’re you ok with the photographic ID for your daughter?

Brilliant thank you. Contemplating getting there for around 1030/11 and it not be too late. Out of interest what are you doing until 7pm?

No, they didn't start giving out tickets till just after 11 but it was really well organised. Lots of staff around, checked ticket and I'd as we got to the front and gave us wrist bands then once you went inside they were just handing out the tickets.

Just showed her birth cert and they were fine with that, to be honest he didn't really ask for it but they'd told us to all have our paper work out, really they inly checked that the name on ticket matched by driving license.

We arrived about 10.15 and it wasn't too big then but by the time it started moving at 11 it was massive.

We've been for lunch at Bill's, then have checked into hotel, just having a chill out now as we've been up since 5am then going to go for a walk and get something for tea in a bit.

It was actually surprisingly non stressful! Think I was more stressed last night getting everything ready to go, once we got to appollo everything was well organised and everyone was friendly. They were even giving out flags and cake to people queuing. We've just been looking at who's on tonight! DD is very excited Junwoo is on, although I think she might be a bit scared of the witch!

I saw the witch in the auditions…. Very creepy

Thanks! We're in our seats! They took our snacks off us going through security though, who takes some skittles of an 8 Yr old

I've seen them take drinks away, but not snacks, it is a bit mean! Hope you have a great time, have you got good seats?😃

Oh we've had such a good time! It was amazing, seats were prefect, in the circle but very central. We're back at hotel now watching again on plus one

Just what they had behind the bar which I didn't fully investigate but didn't seem to be much really. I think it's very much that they want the audience to be part of the show and up dancing etc so they don't want you having a full on picnic

So glad you had a great time and it all went smoothly and I was happy to help! I wonder if they're reserving the stalls for friends and family again like they did at the auditions, although that would be a lot of friends and family😕We always used to get seats in the stalls if we were in the queue early enough, I guess that's changed now!

I'll be there tomorrow night, hopefully it will be just as great!

Oh now I'm jealous you're going tomorrow want to do it all over again.

For any super fans we're staying in the novotel as are all the acts! If I didn't have DD with me I'd be down in the bar now partying with them but I'm in our room in my pj's having a glass of wine out of one of the tumblers from the bathroom

I have just applied for tickets to sundays final, but don't know if I'll get them, so I may get to do it tomorrow and Sunday😁Two of the acts that are on tomorrow, I saw at the auditions...the dancing dog and houdini guy!

Oh, I'm impressed you're staying at the same hotel as the acts, I'd probably have dragged your daughter down with me if I was in your shoes😜

I was thinking of getting her a hot choc and hanging about the bar but we've been up since 5am, I had a power nap earlier but she didn't so she was just ready to crash!
