BGT live semi finals

I've got tickets for the first BGT semi final but it's one of those where they give away too many tickets so you have to go and queue on the day.

In a moment of madness I've booked train tickets and a hotel on the off chance we manage to get in but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of this or any tips!

It's at Hammersmith appollo so I've booked hotel nearby as I'll have DD(8) with me so if we do get in I don't want to be dragging her on the tube late at night.

Our train gets into Euston at 9.10 so we'll tube it straight to Hammersmith to get in the queue but I'm wondering if we'll be too late even by then. I've seen something online from 2019 that said they started giving out tickets at 9.30 and all were gone by 11am... We would be there before 11am but probably only by half an hour.

If anyone has any experience of this let me know. I've already warned DD that we might not get tickets and that we'll have a lovely couple of days in London if we don't. Just want to know if I'm completely mad even trying to get tickets 😬

I don't think we'll be early enough to get good seats but if we get tickets we'll be happy!

Next stupid question.... I'm looking at the map of Hammersmith, looks like tube and appollo are close but over a main road, it is a straight forward walk?

It's not a stupid question at all, I'm the same when going somewhere I'm unfamiliar with! It's only a short walk from the tube station to the apollo and pretty straight forward, you can walk along the main road or through the shopping centre and it comes out opposite the apollo, just ask someone if you're not sure, everyone around there will know it!

Hi all, sorry to jump on, we’ve also got tickets for the Wednesday but are travelling down from Grimsby.

there are 2 train options, one gets us to kings cross at 8.30 and the other 8.50.. the 8.50 one allows us an additional hour in bed 😆

do you think we’d be ok getting the later one? I think then it’s a 25 min tube from kings cross so maybe get to the Apollo for 9.30?

I really want to get us in, my daughter is so excited

Hi. We are hoping to get tickets for Friday. If we do..do we all need to be there in the morning to (hopefully) collect the tickets or can just 1 member of the family go? Thank you

@alex246745 that should be fine, I usually arrive between 9 and 10am but as close to 9 as I can manage, I've often been first in the queue though or with only a few people in front of me, so I don't think 10am will be a problem!

Have you seen the new security procedure?…. Every member of the party needs photographic ID now. Unfortunately one of my sons (15) hasn’t had his new passport arrive in the post yet and they’ve still got his old passport too. I’m hoping a scan of his old passport will be enough, as that’s all I have for him.

Argh well we're about to get the train and DD8 doesn't have photo ID so going to have to risk it with her birth certificate!

@summer1971 Are there any other new security procedures stated? My stupid phone wouldn't let me refresh the email they sent yesterday, so I don't know what the new requirements are? I don't have a computer and my boss printed the tickets out for me but I'm not at work this week, is it just photo ID for kids that's new? At least I don't need to worry about that as not going with kids!

@Stopdropnroll Didn't you say you have an old passport for your daughter? I hope it all goes smoothly and you get in and have a great time, please report back!

Yeah she does have a passport but we couldn't find it yesterday! Just taking birth cert and my driving licence

Oh that's frustrating, don't know why they've decided on this new rule, a lot of kids don't even have passports😕

It said for kids who look under 8 they will ask for ID but says birth certificate is fine for proof of age. Just say she’s never had a passport I think they will be lenient for children as not all have photo ID do they.

Would you be able to let us know how it goes please. We are coming tomorrow so any tips would be greatly appreciated. No idea what time to get there. Was going to aim for 10am but would rather not hang around unnecessarily if doesn’t open for a few hours with not many in the que at that time. Also the whole no food or drink or going to the toilet once your inside sat down seems like an issue for my kids. Especially as it’s a 2hr show and I imagine they want you seated a good while before.

It’s photo ID for all guests now as well as person named on tickets.

Thanks @summer1971 number 12 of the small print says "food and drink are not allowed in the filming area of the studio" I would assume that just means the stage/judges area, but I'm not sure, I can't find anything about not going to the toilet either!

Pretty busy think there's about 100 in front of us and about the same behind us now. I

Not sure what the no food thing is, just been watching them unloading popcorn etc from a lorry!

I’m sure I read that from someone else about the toilet thing. Because it’s live show but that surely can’t be right. I mean more for in the que as being the only adult I won’t be able to have anyone save my space while I take them if they need it.
