I had used a generic term instead of a specific one early on, so it completely threw me off that direction.

I did the hard work and then had to get DH to tell me the actual word as I knew I'd never pull that out of my memory banks.

Yep, it was the slightly different word I was missing and, honestly, I don't think I have ever heard of that version. I'm really surprised DH went straight to it as the subject is far more my sphere than his.

The alternative might be what's used at GCSE, although the target word is (I think, as that's what I thought of first!) more often used nowadays in the field.

That’s amazing! Come back tomorrow and tell us how. I could see there were lots of clues in what was there but don’t know enough about the subject to do well.

The alternative word is what I was taught at A-level at some point in the dark ages and I have not given the subject any thought in the intervening 2 + decades. Well done to everyone getting it so quickly!

Got the area (and word in brackets at the top) really quickly but it’s not my area, could have sat there all day and wouldn’t have guessed it. So was a case of entering every word related to the area I could think of to fill in as many blanks as I could, then googling. Never particularly satisfying when it’s like that, but I think I did fairly well with what little knowledge I possess.

Got it in 4, which is a result. Got the sphere of knowledge at my second guess, and through sheer good luck allied to memories of my 1980's education got the word first time (secondary version then title version).
