Have a nosy on @trent Telenko's timeline and @Blue Sauron.

Doing kids bedtime, otherwise I would be more specific...

dear fuck ... just .. HOW? checked it out and then checked UkraineNOW ...

The "Azov" Regiment has released the video in which they storm the positions of Russian troops.

()

On the 78th day of the full-scale war, in conditions of complete encirclement, despite the extremely difficult situation, lack of ammunition and numerous wounded - fighters of the "Azov" Regiment continue to knock out the enemy from the
previously captured positions at the "Azovstal" plant.

This war plumbs the depths of human evil and the heights of endurance and determination doesn't it.

Blue Sauron on Twitter has just tallied up the losses from that failed river crossing in Bilohorivka. 73 pieces of equipment abandoned and (rumour has it) 1500 RU soldiers died.

UA's military engineer explained the scenario, afterwards.
twitter.com/kms_d4k/status/1524506104192974849.

Like everything, it's not properly verified so take it with a pinch of salt. I think Red's comment earlier about the power symmetry flipping to Ukraine is happening.

The imagery doing the rounds of that attack would seem to make the 73 for bits of kit destroyed/abandoned credible...

OTOH you rightly advise some salt is required - a lot of people with expertise in the subject are raising eyebrows over the claims of 1500 Russians killed.

FWIW on the subject of power flipping we're starting to see images coming out that appear to show that the surface to surface model Brimstone missiles are in theatre and are now being used.

The version that has been supplied is a very capable/cunning longish range anti-armour weapon and will certainly add significantly to Russian woes if deployed properly.

Could you link that video again as it errors and won't play.

Great article. I'm 51 and spent my whole childhood and teens in the Cold War era, and the spectre of nuclear war haunted our imaginations. I feel a difference in my and my age group's attitude to this conflict and that of younger people who don't remember that time. I know appeasement is wrong but every time I see people crowing over Russia's latest defeat I get a horrible clench of fear like they don't realise how bloody serious this is, humiliating a madman who's got nothing to lose and who has 13,000 nuclear warheads. Not talking about this thread but younger colleagues; bright educated people but they seem positively breezy about it at times. I've never been more terrified in my whole life.

Someone mentioned this this morning. This link has several photos so you can see what they found. A bit of light.

Soldiers dug trenches and discovered ancient amphoras dated to around 4-5 centuries BC. Artifacts were transferred to the Odessa Archaeological Museum. : r/ukraine

"I’m surprised Finland is stiring the pot just now after staying out neutral for so long. Adding to the east west tension is not good.

China has a similar grievance over Taiwan so NATO has to be very careful not to provoke them, in addition supplies so much of the global technology that any dispute would bring a great deal of industry to a halt. China invading Russia is just wishful thinking"

Ok, giving you the benefit of the doubt Katie I think for most thought all seventy billion MN threads on this, we've established appeasement does work.

If you have read our threads, I'm probably the polar opposite of your thinking on here and happily, there's many in between who contribute. It's like you've come in after the multiple in depth discussions and said, "oh look putin has crossed the border into Ukraine, don't piss him off"

From the Kyiv Independent:

The Kyiv Independent, [12/05/2022 22:02]

⚡️Official: Another Russian ship hit by Ukrainian navy near Zmiinyi Island.

As a result of the attack, the 95-meter Vsevolod Bobrov, one of the newest ships of the Russian Navy, caught fire, according to Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesman for the Odesa regional military administration. Currently, the vessel is allegedly heading for the city of Sevastopol in the annexed Crimea.

About the claims of many tens of pieces of equipment drowned in the destroyed pontoon crossings though; I can't see those reflected yet in the Equipment Destroyed figures.
It could be that the Ukrainians are waiting until they themselves can verify the figures, which could be very difficult since there is a heavy Russian presence in the area (they tried no less than a third crossing in almost the same spot).

Still another ship heavily damaged is not small.

From Zelensky's official Telegram channel. He's getting bold!

Russia's strategic defeat is already obvious to everyone in the world. It's just that Russia doesn't have the courage to admit it yet. They are cowards. And they are trying to hide the truth behind missile, air and artillery strikes. Therefore, our task is to fight until we achieve our goals in this war. Free our land, our people and secure our security.

I have a feeling Anonymous tend to big themselves up but they've (well it was probably them) achieved some good stuff against Russia.

If it's true that 3 Chinese banks have rejected the request to start a new payment system - do they have their own that they want Russia to use? If not I'll enjoy the schadenfreude of seeing Russia betrayed by someone they considered an ally, in their turn.

I think China is wanting to distance itself from Russia to avoid having to bail it out financially like GDR with the reunification of East Germany. China has a huge cash burn to get its military and economy up to US standards (though it may fail for different reasons anyway) and it cannot be done with one hand tied behind its back.

Obtained a recording of an oligarch close to the Russian government saying Vladimir Putin is “very ill with blood cancer.” Is this the truth, a rumor or clever disinformation intended to make a paranoid dictator look ripe for removal?

https://newlinesmag.com/reportage/is-putin-sick-or-are-we-meant-to-think-he-is/

Aren't blood cancer patients particularly vulnerable to covid? As in, they are some of the most at risk?

Yes - and they are CEVs in the U.K.

Steroids, puffy faces and occasionally ‘restless leg syndrome’ are experienced by those under certain treatment protocols.

Like 25,000 posts behind.

@irishfeminist Like you, I have been around a long time and remember the Cold War and even the Cod War. But if you go back over the last 25,000 posts over nearly 25 threads you may see some reasons why some of us (a) don’t believe Putin is mad and (b) why nuclear war will not be started by Russia and (c) why the populations of Britain and France now realise the benefit of their own relatively modest nuclear deterrent. You may sleep easier if you do.

And now is the exact time for the UA with some intel and some strong hearts to provide an assisted breakout. Lives will be lost, but these things have happened before. It’s not crazy.

if it’s not happening now, over these next few hours, then it’s because the intel says all expected outcomes are nil. Then what do you say to these men and women if they survive this? How can you look them in the eye when, indeed, they have been elevated to gods?
