Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

Mick Huckall is lovely, Philip Schofield is just bloody awful

spiderlight · 10/05/2022 13:49

I'm not sure whether she counts as a celebrity, but Liz Pichon (author of the Tom Gates books) was lovely. We met her at a children's literature festival -- she came bounding up to my DS to admire his hand-coloured Tom Gates doodle t-shirt, continued the doodle herself and then signed it. He's a hulking great tennager now but he's still got it.

My ex colleague met Craig Charles and said he was very drunk and pervy and tried to grab her breast. I was gutted as he was my first crush as Dave Lister in Red Dwarf!

Another friend worked with all of Girls Aloud and said they weren't very nice apart from Kimberley Walsh.

Jack Black was friendly and happy to chat when he came into the shop I used to work in (was ages ago, 2008 I think).

Onlyforcake · 10/05/2022 13:51

Well there's the one I went to school with. Was a fake bitch then. Worse now. Not so much celebrity but regional news thing for a while, apparently not any more. I suspect her backstabbing caught up with her.

Gwenhwyfar · 10/05/2022 13:53

"My dd met David tennent in sainsburys once-she was a massive fan and asked for a selfie
he was an utter arse to her-she was crushed"

Maybe he just wanted to do his shopping in peace?

Yes, a few times. She is engaging, full of anecdotes and not immune to name dropping. She is not my bag really. I find the Hampstead, leftie clichés a bit trying.

I used to buy clothes from a designer who sold samples from her basement workshop in West Hampstead. I was there once and ET was trying on stuff too. She asked me what I thought of one outfit and I told her it was see through and she needed a slip under it. But that was it really, she didn’t suggest we went out for lunch, or even coffee………

Our 8 yo DD struck up a conversation with a very attractive man whilst we were in a restaurant and she pottered over and started to chat.
My DH sat there dumbfounded as she chatted about finding an ammonite during the Easter hols.
I apologised to this beautiful man who was charm personified and later that evening he stopped and wished our daughter ‘ Happy fossil hunting DD name’ in a lovely Catalonian accent.
‘Twas Pep G.
DH massive Man City fan.

Aww lovely story

So she was happy to use you as a personal stylist for free

that’s just plain rude these celebs who do they think they are

Ricky Gervais and his wife are both lovely, impressive, private people. Nothing but nice things to say about them.

I'm pleased to read this as I've liked Ricky since the Office. I saw him live last year at last.

MrsJBaptiste · 09/05/2022 20:25

Not Clive Swift? 😟

I'm currently watching episodes of Keeping up Appearances and he seems like such a nice man...

I have met a couple of people who met him and he had a really awful reputation for rudeness.

Apparently he said himself "People think I'm nice like Richard. I'm not"

Broke my heart. I love Richard.

Finding out David Tennant isn't as nice as I'd hoped has upset me too

Laiste · 10/05/2022 14:12

Adam Woodyat (Ian Beal)
My XH used to know him due to a shared hobby and always said he was an unpleasant twat. (takes one to know one Grin)

Chris Evans.
Nice bloke.

OMG @ladymalfoy45 I am so jealous but very happy to hear that Pep is indeed lovely. I would absolutely love to meet him.

To whoever was asking about Katie Hopkins, she has been lying low since Jack Monroe sued her and won. KH had to sell up her rather nice Georgian pile and pull her DC out of their private schools. I have no idea what she is up to now.

I forgot one. Hugh F-W's son was in DD's year and I taught the lad for a year. HFW was very low key but very nice to talk to, especially when we said nice things about his DS. The DS had lovely manners and a great sense of humour. Sadly he left the school to got to a boarding one instead. HFW's programme about battery chickens at Tesco featured a class I was teaching at the time (probably >10yrs ago now)

I can confirm Z lister Bobby Davro is indeed a massive cock. I had the misfortune of dealing with him many times as a teenager when he was at the height of his 'career'. Definitely a 'don't you know who I am ' twat. Sadly my boss pandered to that shit 🙄

For those of you of a certain age.... Johnny Morris was also a twat. Refused to sign an autograph for me when I was little, making me cry (he was really gruff and dismissive). I got the autograph after my father 'had a word' 🤣

I have served very famous people in my previous job. Some I was really star struck by. But it isn't right, imo, to disturb people whilst they are eating or out with family.
I totally understand why someone would come across as arsey in these instances.

Nooo...not Bobby Davro! I tripped over and he was outside chatting on the phone. Immediately cut off his conversation and ran over to see if I was OK! Surely a gent!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 10/05/2022 14:18

My brother used to work as stage crew in theatres. Had some very entertaining stories but he found Barry Humphries particularly unpleasant.

Laiste · 10/05/2022 14:20

@lameasahorse that does make sense. if you're casting little known people for roles where they have to be the same certain character for ages - yes, chose the ones for whom it comes naturally !😂

Muckymaisonette · 10/05/2022 14:21

Rob Newman came across as an arrogant tossed.

I’m hoping David Baddiel is nice though - has anyone met him?

Muckymaisonette · 10/05/2022 14:22

Tosser!!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 10/05/2022 14:23

And on the positive side. I met Gyles Brandreth in the bar after a performance he had done and I thanked him and told him how much I'd enjoyed it. He was absolutely charming and modest about it.

Petrifiedtossed · 10/05/2022 14:25

Met Timmy Mallet in Porto, he was on holiday with a group of friends (golf trip). Me and my friend ended up doing a bar crawl with them. He was really nice and friendly (not Pervy or weird like some people may think). He couldn't stop moaning about his wife tho! Was hilarious!

glitterfairy88 · 10/05/2022 14:26

Matt Lucas - a complete diva. A friend of mine works in theatre and he made all of these demands about his dressing room. One of which was leaving the windows open all night. He was told no as it was a security risk. He then packed a suitcase and stormed out of the theatre and refused to perform as his demands were not being met!

Patrick Stewart - really rude. Refused to let the staff sit down during his performance as he said that it was too distracting for him.

Amanda Holden - another diva. She was in a play with a few other cast members. There was a lot of ranting and bitching going on as to who had the biggest dressing room!

Michael Ball - absolutely LOVELY. A real gentleman. Time for everyone and his radio persona is genuine.

GuyFawkesDay · 10/05/2022 14:28

Bit of an oldie but ended up in a hotel where there was bizarrely the dancing on Ice on tour cast staying.

David Seaman was SO lovely. Really lovely guy. We ended up chatting to him by accident at the bar and he was lovely company. Andi Peters was a sweetheart and helped my grandma in the lift. Also met the then Chelsea footy team and Frank Lampard again was a delight. Really unassuming but again, we didn't approach him, we just happened to be in the bar when they were there. Jose Mourinho was a miserable git though 🤣

Daqqe · 10/05/2022 14:29

Holly Willoughby. I was backstage at a panel show she was filming a few years ago. What an arse. She was so stuck up. On the contrary that day, Nick Grimshaw & Joe Lycett were so lovely. They spent hours taking photos & talking to fans. They were genuinely polite & nice backstage too.

In live near a couple of the kids who are in that new Netflix drama Heartstopper, the ones who play Charlie & Ben. They seem super lovely, they get stopped all the time by teens and they always make time for them. I know very minor celebs at this stage & they probs like the attention but props for being kind!

CambsAlways · 10/05/2022 14:31

I must admit I always thought holly on this morning could be a bit too sweet so I’m not surprised to hear that she’s nothing like the person she portrays off camera! Always could tell Phillip was arrogant on screen so no surprise that he’s the same out of the limelight,
