Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

A friend once worked with Ben stiller on a film Ben was directing for a significant amount of time. Apparently he was very rude - always in a bad mood- arrived late, didn’t care.

Just asked DH - he said Dennis Taylor was very rude to him once but that he spent a whole evening chatting to Will Mellor and how lovely and down to earth he was!

KermitlovesKeyLimePie · 09/05/2022 21:27

Alex Fergusson. Nasty twat.

Alan carr is a delight! I was sat behind him on an easy jet flight to Gatwick from Edinburgh in august 2011! He was drunk and was singing and had everyone on the flight singing along! I saw him at the gate and got a selfie with him and I did wander back up with my mum on the phone and asked if he would say hello to her! He spoke to her for a couple of minutes and was saying it's a disgrace he couldn't take a bottle of wine on board to drink (he was joking of course!) was so happy to find I was sat in the row behind!!

Hmm, I'm sure it's the way it's done that makes all the difference, but can you imagine the thread when people are stuck on a flight with a non celeb behaving like that?

itsnotmeitisactuallyyou · 09/05/2022 21:29

No one

littlefoot20 · 09/05/2022 21:29

I’m also glad it wasn’t rylan’s mum! 😅

risefromyourgrave · 09/05/2022 21:32

Eddie Izzard was one of the rudest people I’ve ever met, and Russel T Davies was an absolute twat when I met him. I was gutted, as I love his writing.

Nikki Chapman was absolutely delightful, honestly the nicest person, also Laurence Llewelyn Bowen was charming and witty.

Sacha Baron Cohen.
Admittedly this was before he was famous but he was such a bellend then I think he's unlikely to have improved.

Ben Elton

Not met her personally but I'm reliably informed Miriam Margolyes is awful.

Gianfranco Zola (ex Chelsea/ Italian footballer) is lovely and very polite.

Yayy that makes me happy about Zola! Can't imagine him being anything but lovely and polite..but you never know!

Have you met any celebrities? remember they are real people....

Applepie82 · 09/05/2022 21:32

Peter Andre - absolutely delightful. A family member met him at a event where she was presented for an award, she was very poory at the time. She asked him for a photo and his PA was hesitant as he had to go and he looked at her and and said no, I'm having a picture with this lady. A year later she met him again and he remembered her, he spent lots of time with her and accompanied her into an event. Sadly she is so longer with us, but she loved talking about him and how lovely he was.

stopwaitingforpermissiontobeyou · 09/05/2022 21:32

John Barrowman. Total let down (and continues to be).

Also as I said it’s kind of part of the job/trade off for a lot of money and fame. I mean I live in a small town and often have to tolerate children from work when I’m out with my own kids. I don’t particularly enjoy having kids from work come up to me at soft play to ask me to fix their socks when it’s my day off but hey-ho. Part of life is tolerating people even when you can’t be bothered. And if I was being paid the kind of money most celebs are for basically nothing I’d tolerate it a whole lot more cheerfully!

Exactly this. These actors, stars and celebrities will do anything to get the public to recognise them and notice them when they are on the way up.

I personally would never go up to anyone famous when they were out eating dinner or something similar as I do think that is rude and invasive but if they are just generally out and about exchanging a few pleasant words with a member of the public is hardly onerous is it.

littlefoot20 · 09/05/2022 21:33

@Georgeskitchen not late night love with graham Torrington?!! 😅

Crikeyalmighty · 09/05/2022 21:34

The Milliband brothers are extremely nice-- we met David in a queue at JFK airport- he saw me looking , so I smiled and he then started chatting- very natural in conversation and very tall!! My 24 year old son saw Ed outside a cafe in South Ken and asked if could do a quick photo (it's a lovely photo too) and they then had a nice 5 minute chat about politics today and Ed was very interested in what he did workwise and how he got there. My son said he was just a genuinely warm bloke

Kylie refused to sign my plaster cast when I had a broken arm when I was about 5 (30+ years ago, ahem). I've felt a bit cold towards her ever since!

What a bitch! And she can't sing for her life. Eurgh. She bores me to death and i would not go near her if i saw her, so called talentless "celeb"

Gilead · 09/05/2022 21:35

I’ve met Jeremy Paxman, he was charming and chatted to my daughter for ages, she got a lovely selfie with him. She is a wheelchair user, he jumped off a stage to chat with her and wasn’t in the least bit patronising.

CrotchetyQuaver · 09/05/2022 21:35

Ted Heath sometime PM in the 1970's. Rudest most arrogant person I have EVER had the misfortune to have to work with. Off the scale rude. Respect has to be earned, it's not a god given right

RewildingAmbridge · 09/05/2022 21:37

Ainsley Harriott - absolute twat

MenopausalMandy · 09/05/2022 21:37

LocalHobo · 09/05/2022 21:17

David Jason, the rudest.
I feel I should defend Adam Woodyatt as a fellow parent at DC's school. He seemed to keep his head down at events unlike some other, one previously mentioned on this thread, celebrity parents.

I've worked with David Jason and he was absolutely lovely. Not rude at all.

I guess that we all experience working with other people at different times in our lives. Some might be going through difficult times, which we don't know about, which might make them appear unfriendly. I'm just very glad that I am not a celeb who is expected to be happy and smiley all the time.

hellcatspanglelalala · 09/05/2022 21:38

Papergirl1968 · 09/05/2022 21:20

Robert Plant. He was a bit pushy but didn't do the "do you know who I am?" I really didn't have a clue the first time I met him. He waits in line, seems polite and friendly enough. People are used to seeing him around the local area and don't make a fuss.

You must live near me....he's often out in the local area (mainly in various pubs) as you say, nobody makes that much of a fuss anymore as they're so used to seeing him around.

Meklk · 09/05/2022 21:38

Majority of VS "angels"- I hope I won't meet them again in my life. Completely crazy and unpredictable behaviour.
Only Candice was nice and friendly.

flipper97 · 09/05/2022 21:40

Met Katie Price years ago in a queue at a Madonna concert. Tiny, pretty and really quite adorable.

Nigel Farage - cracking bloke, talks to and has time for everyone.

Jo Johnstone - dull as bleeding ditchwater.

My Dad is doing some work for one of Sting’s daughters and says she’s a doll. He did some work for Tom Baker (Doctor Who) yonks ago and said he was absolute cunt.

billywilliamthefourth · 09/05/2022 21:40

Slyvestor McCoy. I was working at the Edinburgh festival, aged 23. He was a horrible, drunk, lecherous old man with wandering hands. My Dr-Who-loving inner ten year old self was gutted.

NoGoodUsernamee · 09/05/2022 21:40

Yeesh. She was really rude… not at all like nanny pat then! She seemed lovely…

leavesontheground · 09/05/2022 21:40

Keira Knightley was awful when she filmed at the hospice I worked at. The other actors came to meet the patients but she refused, then sent her minder to delete photos of her from one patient’s phone.

Meklk · 09/05/2022 21:42

Also,
Paloma Faith- friendly, and very pretty without makeup
Josh Brolin and his girlfriend (now wife)- both nice
Mustaine family- daughter Electra sooo quite and nice, it was very strange to see her performances on YouTube where she dancing and being "hot"
