I also got yesterday's from On the origin of species. I remembered that I put in species way too late for cicada so tried it and spotted On the [redacted] of species. Tried a couple of evolution type words with no luck and then, on a whim, tried beagle. Ironically, DH had on the origin of species but didn't try beagle for ages because there was nothing that would match with the voyage of the beagle.

Got today's in 56 guesses with 57% accuracy, no google. It was intimidatingly long to look at!

74 guesses with 72.29% accuracy today.

Ah damn I just didn't have time for it yesterday but that absolutely would have been a good one for me!!

For Beagle yesterday, I was guessing up to 400+. Thought it was an American folk hero of some kind to start with and went off on all sorts of tangents. By 300+ I'd only just figured it was an animal. Only by doing "pet" did I eventually realise it was a dog, typed in "hound", and then it took forever to narrow down the exact breed! Kept trying to think of the word "borzoi" but got there in the end!

Yep I also got Beagle yesterday from the Darwin segment!

73 today, with accuracy of 81% - my second most accurate ever (got 100% for Meryl Streep which I guessed in 4).

I guessed what type of thing it was right at the beginning but my first guess misled me a bit and I only came back to realising that at about guess 50.

Happy with that! My best result since Meryl. I’ve enjoyed the last few - I like the ones I can solve from my own general knowledge. More satisfying than googling.

I love this game - but I’m crap at it!

Ive tried to blame the fact I’m using a (small screened) mobile phone as the reason I take longer sometimes, but today I just feel stupid.
Me to DH “I know the answer is an XYZ - I just need to solve W and then it’ll be obvious”
DH (taking phone) “Can I enter V? Because of the very specific detail here….” (Solves redactle)

it was the same with ‘Screw’. He read what I had uncovered carefully and without any random stupid guesses could get the answer on first ‘guess’.

I uncover themes early, and generally have a good accuracy, but am utterly rubbish at honing in on specific details (unless it’s something I’ve been actively working on.)

So I’m thinking it’s probably more to do with ADHD than phone size? 😕

Oh well. At least I enjoy it!

One of my standard early guesses paid off by pointing to a key compound word, and after that I just had to run through the possible solutions.

I got #35 in 26 guesses, my best yet!

@PortiaFimbriata I bet I got the same key compound word as you (but it took me a little longer), after that there were only a few possibilities!

@RequiemTonight I think it's ADHD. The last 3 I haven't even managed to solve as I got distracted and forgot about them. I'm also on a phone though. I've not got today's yet and and struggling to see how people got it so quickly!
