I solved today's Redactle (#29) in 112 guesses with an accuracy of 20.54%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Not a good one today. Only a random word put in saved me from a lot longer. I'd hardly got any hits until that point.

User12398712 · 05/05/2022 17:37

I solved today's Redactle (#29) in 79 guesses with an accuracy of 53.16%. Played at www.redactle.com/

What I thought it was going to be about versus what it was actually about is so funny! I'll share tomorrow.😂

LadyOfTheCanyon · 05/05/2022 17:46

Really enjoyed that!

I solved today's Redactle (#29) in 258 guesses with an accuracy of 26.36%. Played at www.redactle.com/

ScrambledSmegs · 05/05/2022 17:52

Totally on the wrong track then two words suddenly revealed all.

I solved today's Redactle (#29) in 149 guesses with an accuracy of 37.58%. Played at www.redactle.com/

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 05/05/2022 17:54

I solved today's Redactle (#29) in 100 guesses with an accuracy of 34.00%. Played at www.redactle.com/

That was a surprise! I should have got that earlier having found some key words around guess 45.

BestIsWest · 05/05/2022 17:58

I solved today's Redactle (#29) in 81 guesses with an accuracy of 34.57%. Played at www.redactle.com/ Hmm.

Goodness! You must have a good selection of words to get you going.

Peckhampalace · 05/05/2022 18:09

I solved today's Redactle (#29) in 229 guesses with an accuracy of 44.54%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Got a bit caught up in some of the details, without really seeing the whole subject.

Aaargh....can I rant about monosaccharide now!

I spent forever on a completely wrong track of organic chemistry rather than biochemistry, I was thinking aldehydes, ketones, benzene-like compounds. I'd even drawn pictures of what it would like. With hindsight, I got a hit on carbohydrate earlier on and nothing on hydrocarbon which should really have sounded alarm bells!

Once I finally put in sugar, I should have got it fairly quickly but it took me another 20 or so guesses as I managed to type in monsaccharide. I couldn't understand how the article started monosaccharides... but it wasn't in the title.

I went on a big detour into stereochemistry / chirality / isomerism when I found that paragraph before I realised that wasn't actually the subject.

Then I went through the rest of the article filling in long sections with things like 'nucleophilic substitution' 'plane polarized light' etc before scrolling back to the top and finding
(from Greek : single and : sugar)
Could have sworn I'd already tried that 😜

MrsElm · 05/05/2022 18:12

I got it quite randomly at guess 140, from a simple phrase that was revealed.
Am quite surprised by the answer!

Goodness! You must have a good selection of words to get you going.

I'm having to do it on my phone at the moment so I'm reading the text extra carefully, I got one of the important words in the opening paragraph and then two words together that could only refer to the topic.

Coord · 05/05/2022 18:17

Got today's in 74 guesses with 40% accuracy. Feel I've redeemed myself after failing miserably on the chemistry one yesterday.

I can guess which words they might have been!

A sudden flash of inspiration and there it was!

luciatrope · 05/05/2022 18:30

424 guesses, plurals on, no google

Lovely, happy Thursday everyone😬

I didn’t Google today - kept thinking I was close but took me ages to get there

suckingonchillidogs · 05/05/2022 18:54

Got it in 164 with 55.54% accuracy. Went down the wrong road for a bit but then got back on track. Much more do-able than yesterdays abomination!

GrouchyKiwi · 05/05/2022 18:54

Not entirely sure how that word entered my head.

I solved today's Redactle (#29) in 52 guesses with an accuracy of 51.92%. Played at www.redactle.com/

ErrolTheDragon · 05/05/2022 19:09

I solved today's Redactle (#29) in 60 guesses with an accuracy of 51.67%. Played at www.redactle.com/

The solution occurred to me somewhat earlier but I thought no, and tried various other things.

OwBist · 05/05/2022 19:11

Went down a bit of a rabbit hole, but got it in 65 with 40% hit rate.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/05/2022 19:14

Yesterdays hacked me off because although my guesses/accuracy were not terrible, I should have got it a lot sooner, once I'd got D-[something] and L-[something] (after an initial misdirection thinking it was something mathematical). But some of the words I expected from that gave zeros so I went on a bit of a detour. Hmm

L1ttledrummergirl · 05/05/2022 19:38

I solved today's Redactle (#29) in 24 guesses with an accuracy of 50.00%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Not sure what this says about me.
