^It is true that Russian forces have entered the Azovstal premises.
The Mariupol garrison is repelling attacks, comms have been restored^.

I'm not sure it is working. The first threat did but with each subsequent one I think people start getting angry rather than scared. You can only threaten someone so many times before they tell you once and for all to fuck off.

I reached fuck off a long time ago. If I'm honest I expect if Russia tried to launch a nuclear missile it's more likely to blow up in their faces than leave the country.

Re Russia stealing the grain, if it was mine, as I said up thread I would burn it rather than let it go. If they are going to make me starve then they can fucking join me.

Sorry didn’t mean to cause anxiety. Agree that people are getting more angry with the threats now. Of course some anxiety is warranted it’s a big threat.
I just meant I think he’s singling out the UK for numerous reasons and a lot of them aren’t actually to do with what we are doing in Ukraine as such but more that the government has had the balls to do it after being so in bed with Russian money. We know russia plays the long game in propaganda/sticking fingers in pies etc. I guess maybe they thought NATO countries and Europe wouldn’t be so staunch in their support of Ukraine as they have been.

People going loopy about the uk being singled out in the context of nukes is quite frankly a demonstration of illiteracy.

It is impossible to nuke the uk only or send a nuke tsunami that will only affect the uk.

I genuinely feel like screaming at people who are throwing hissy fits about it at this point.

Was watching an interesting video by Vladimir Milov, he's one of the opposition leaders, supporter of Navalny presidential campaign. He was covering a question of whether Putin will announce the mobilisation.

Basically, he said that he doesn't need to announce anything, as it's already happening. The military units that call people up for army are already working overtime, trying to call up men of draftable age (18-27), and anyone with previous training/service. There's also numerous adverts on recruitment websites advertising military vacancies. A lot of them state experience not required 🤔

The latter was covered by BBC Russia article as well. It sometimes only takes 2 weels from application to being on the front line. Some of that is taken up by sorting out paperwork, so you can guess what kind of training they actually get...

There's also a few organisations that help and advise men on how to escape the army, and what to do if you're called up.

Igotjelly · 04/05/2022 19:44

Fuck sakes man missile fire focussed on Zaporizhzhia, where refugees from Mariupol are sheltering. Just fucking let these people be and recover!

AFP News is saying that Russia announces ceasefire at Azovstal steel plant in Ukraine's Mariupol to allow civilian evacuations

Hope that is true

Yes just heard this on BBC. Fingers crossed. Those people must be so frightened.

dancelikeyoudontgiveafuck · 04/05/2022 20:11

@RedToothBrush the discussion about it though was in the context of Putin and his mouthpieces making a point of singling the UK out in their propaganda not whether it’s actually possible. Of course it’s not possible to just only target us, but my point was that it’s interesting that he seems to be persistently talking about us as opposed to other nations. I’m quite literate thank you.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 04/05/2022 20:27

@dancelikeyoudontgiveafuck I do wonder if it is because they think the UK Government owes them some how ?

Really hope that's true. I can't stop thinking about those poor people. Hope they get to evacuate to Ukrainian controlled areas as well.

To be fair Boris and his cronies have proven to be a bit of a poor investment.

Oh I don't know, I think they were a very good investment for quite a long time.

Ijsbear · 04/05/2022 20:38

They know the UK has given a lot of military training to the Ukranians and are militarily supporting them to the hilt now ... if not with taking refugees.

DuncinToffee · 04/05/2022 20:47

Another journalist killed

^Ukrainian journalist Oleksandr Makhov died as a result of russian shelling.
He was a professional correspondent, highly respected by media community in #Ukraine.^

🤮 this is that knob who threatened to sink the UK with a nuclear tidal wave last week, now drinking a Campari and waving his willy in some matching trunks. Parallel universe

Well I just hope Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who is entertaining this knock-kneed impotent promoter of rapists, paedophiles and genociders understands that we can sanction his interests also. The Russians are never getting their yachts, apartments and chateaux back.

All their thoroughbred wealth is in Ireland, France and the UK and they could lose that also.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 04/05/2022 21:18

True, but they will have known about the UK and Nato's training of Ukrainian military for as long as it has been happening and other countries are supporting the Ukraines military and taking refugees. We are also still buying their oil, like a lot of other Nato countries, so funding Ukraine and Russia at the same time, bonkers isn't it ?

Wannago · 04/05/2022 21:23

OwlsDance · 04/05/2022 15:42

I think he sees UK as an extension of US (they often refer to both as "Anglo-Saxons"), but US is big and scary to bark at.

Or, in Iranian speak - the big Satan and the little Satan.

TiddyTidTwo · 04/05/2022 21:35

So hear me out. Londongrad is worth millions if not billions, all in. Now the UK have made their stance clear and we are no.1 enemy, what use can we put to what we've sanctioned?

No wonder Russia is pissed and it's not the weapons it's all they've sunk into the UK and we are Zelenksys favourite. That's going to burn

Today again, we managed to provide safe passage for civilians stranded in Mariupol & other areas, thanks to a strong AT UN & AT ICRC collaboration. Many came with nothing but the clothes they had on. We will now support them in this difficult time. Our work must, and will continue.

Laura Bicker AT BBCLBicker
I’m told that over 300 people made it out on this convoy.

From the steelworks? I thought they were bombing it all to blazes. I've been thinking about the kids in there all day.

TiddyTidTwo · 04/05/2022 22:48

This is why I'm pissed. Majorly pissed off. We supply equipment and sanction. Ok good. But a fellow, European democratic country and its fucking obvious there is war crimes and genocide.

Russia will not fight NATO. They can't. They can't fight Ukraine, let alone nato .

We've been here before...

I'm sick to the stomach of it tbh. Go in. Fuck him.

Oh dear god I hope this is true.

HOw?! the Russians are actively storming and bombing it!

If people have managed to be evacuated it's a human miracle.
