I'm struggling today!

Have guessed lots of words (many correctly and even more incorrectly) but I'm struggling to even spot the theme!

I can't even Google if I wanted to as I've not got anything useful so far to look up!

I found a very specific odd thing to Google which got me onto the right track - I'd been thinking along very different lines!

I got the subject area really quickly, which meant I was very accurate. I didn't get the actual word for ages after that. I'm normally the other way round!

From the layout, I thought I knew the sort of category it would belong to, then tried to narrow it down with three words. The first wasn't greatly helpful but the second two were. At that point, I had quite a few gaps filled in on the first paragraph, enough for my brain to be thinking of other words that might fill them. This suggested something to me but I wasn't sure so tried to narrow it down with another word. Got lots of hits so decided to go for my initial thought and...bingo. To be fair, it's the sort of subject area that I find quite interesting so, to me, it was a bit like the Meryl Streep one was to movie buffs.

What was the answer to the redactle a few days ago that was pretty scientific, references to cells, evolution and Charles Darwin? Can anyone shed any light? I gave up!
