I solved today's Redactle (#16) in 61 guesses with an accuracy of 73.77%. Played at www.redactle.com/

I am so pleased with this that I have started this thread 😀🤗

Eventually! I suppose it isn't objectively that bad, it just didn't feel as fun this time.

I'm slightly worried I did an A-level that included this, and have completely forgotten it.

I have pretty much all of the first paragraph though, so surely I should recognise it?!

IME the wiki pages in this field are often quite impenetrable (and that's with two A levels though I've forgotten most of the bits I don't still use)

Useranon1 · 25/04/2022 22:46

602 for fucks sake.

I had the topic are early on but having never learned anything about it, was screwed!!!

Useranon1 · 25/04/2022 22:48

Apparently I can't even count.

WheelofLife · 25/04/2022 22:56

I’m up to a 159 guesses, have the second word in the title and most of the words in the text, but cannot for the life of me figure out the first word. I’m not giving in and googling yet, will if I’m no further forward in another hour!

I got to that point too, and just kept throwing out words that I thought fitted with the subject.

Got there in the end - throw enough shit and eventually something will stick.

WheelofLife · 25/04/2022 23:18

@TheAbbotOfUnreason My last twenty guesses were wrong. Really feel like I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel now. I suspect it's not a word I use every day :)

Vastra · 25/04/2022 23:18

I love the idea of this game, but I am gloriously bad at it so far. 759 guesses today, I used Google for guess 735 onwards. So far I’ve done two with Google, two without.
It’s my fourth day, best result so far was College of Cardinals, but even that was about 480. I get fixated on trying to complete sentences, so if I see a gap for an adverb I’ll try a bunch rather than being strategic.

AuntieStella · 25/04/2022 23:37

BelleTheBananas · 25/04/2022 22:33

I think I’m playing it differently to everyone else? I get most of the words of a given sentence, then copy and paste into Wikipedia and it gives me the article. Is that cheating? It doesn’t take me that long to get a big enough chunk to go searching for the article.

I solved today's Redactle (#19) in 57 guesses with an accuracy of 42.11%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Yes that's cheating, but as I'm over 1300 guesses I'm probably going to crack and cheat soon!

I have a lot of the text and half the title, but I just don't know the general subject well enough to work out the other half

luciatrope · 26/04/2022 00:19

My method (three games in so far) is to exhaust all words, patience and hope before searching, and to only search if it's a subject area I don't know well enough to ever get the title. For that reason, I'm ignoring the stats feature because they just don't tell the full picture.

Yesterday's was good. More like that!

Wisterical · 26/04/2022 00:23

@AuntieStella but why is it cheating? It’s not breaking any Redactle ‘don’t use google’ rule AFAIK, it’s not dishonest as it’s being declared and it’s not unfair as everybody can do it 🤷🏻‍♀️

WheelofLife · 26/04/2022 04:00

618 words and no solution yet….

MissedItByThisMuch · 26/04/2022 05:16

@Wisterical not cheating as such, but not really satisfying either I’d have thought. You’re really just playing against your own intellect, and if you just do enough to get a phrase then plug it into Google where’s the fun in that?

InMySpareTime · 26/04/2022 06:10

I solved today's Redactle (#19) in 659 guesses with an accuracy of 28.53%. Played at www.redactle.com/

That was blooming hard work, I've forgotten most of what I ever learned about that particular subject!

WheelofLife · 26/04/2022 06:21

645 guesses with 30.7 % accuracy. I googled in the end. As was not going to get anything else done. I spent about five hours on this today!!!! And i'm not sorry in this instance I googled as I (correctly) guessed I was never going to get it. There were words in there that i'd never use in casual conversation! :)

MrsLargeEmbodied · 26/04/2022 06:29

I solved today's Redactle (#19) in 548 guesses with an accuracy of 16.61%. Played at www.redactle.com/

phew,

MrsLargeEmbodied · 26/04/2022 06:34

globally 6955 people have solved this one

SickAndTiredAgain · 26/04/2022 06:44

Can someone PM me a hint for this one? I'm stuck!!

BIWI · 26/04/2022 06:52

There's absolutely no way I could have got that without Google!

I solved today's Redactle (#19) in 122 guesses with an accuracy of 43.44%. Played at www.redactle.com/

BIWI · 26/04/2022 06:54

I should say, I did at least realise what the subject area was - but just have absolutely no specific knowledge or understanding of it to even begin to get there! I did manage to get the second word of the title on my own, but had to search for the first one.

ApolloandDaphne · 26/04/2022 07:32

I have no clue what this one is on about!

Me too. None of the ones I could remember were the right one although they did appear in the text.

SoupDragon · 26/04/2022 07:39

DS2 did it in 78 guesses.

The fun for me today was that I was able to get something very small (4 characters) that I thought would be searchable, not a big wodge of text.
