Alternatives to MN

[SirChenjins]

In light of the recent changes on here I’m looking for alternative chat forums on which to impose my opinions and wisdom (oh lucky them). Until MN sorts out the many issues can anyone suggest some good ones? Preferably not Reddit or Netmums.

I prefer Reddit to MN but rarely post there, so it’s more for lurking, for me. Also like the News threads on Reddit, which you can filter for science or tech.
I flounced of MN for Twitter years ago after a brutal flaming. Twitter now is even worse for drive-by blasting.
So, I’m mostly about podcasts now. And Reddit. MN if I’ve exhausted both.

I just had a look at Tattle, only to find a thread where they discuss Mumsnet threads.
It was most enjoyable, if a little weird 😂

I don't know what all the fuss is about. On my phone (Samsung Android) all that's really changed is the font is different (clearer, easier to read, brighter) and it's a bit different with the way people can quote other posts. Seems too work quicker too. More emojis - I mean look....there's a unicorn🦄

I think I’d be a bit embarrassed to have my premium status displayed in that way. If I did have it. Which I don’t. It also looks like it’s been manually added and her name misspelled. Like this:

On not liking the changes, everything changes. In fact MN has changed very little. Probably too little. It’s like a new version of Windows or something, lots of moaning and then it’s normal until the next time when there’s lots of moaning.

Yeah I think that poster just wrote that it has been edited don't think it actually was!

I've got Premium and no edit function that I know of 🤔

Sign out and in again, hopefully that will get rid of the ads. If not, try clearing cookies and sign in again.

There are thousands of interesting subreddits, beyond the obvious ones. Lots of health, fasting, habit tracking, productivity communities as well. If you pick the right threads, you can find a very supportive community.

It seems to depend on your device. Fine here on android phone now I'm used to it, if a bit too much white space. Enjoying all threads on one page as will reduce 'cancel the cheque'. Been here many years (not on this account) and people always moan about the changes.

Thanks for the Reddit and Tattle recommendations. Off to have a look now.
This new font and thin white box on a grey background is hard to read.
The fact you can't start reading from where you last got to on threads I'm on is incredibly time wasting.

Thanks for posting this thread. I was wondering what else was out there (that was half decent), even if it was for a couple of months until mn got this crap sorted.

As for the pp who said go outside and smell the fresh air or go to 5he gym - thanks mum but its 9pm, dark outside and I'm wearing pj's for bed 🙄

They’re just ‘get a bit of perspective, if it’s THAT big of a deal for you, maybe it IS time to put down the phone’ suggestions. 🙂

Neither of those things work, unfortunately. I've contacted MN as I don't think it'd just me but it's most annoying as I signed up immediately as wanted to support the site. I just want the ads to go - the rest doesn't bother me really.
