Here we go again! Is this game getting easier, or will we all be wallowing in the hundreds in a day or two? Only time will tell!

I solved Semantle #79 in 19 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 11.08. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #12. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 44.80 (804/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

That was fun, and considerably quicker than yesterday which I only solved with the clues of you lovely lot. A middle of the night wakeful period got me 473 and 537, at which I thought WTF and went back to sleep 😆 More careful thought this morning got me from them to 982 and bingo!

I could take a guess at what 957 might mean in the context of the solution, if you think about 900s maybe ? But one of those which shows up randomly in the green list and is unlikely anyone would guess whereas the solution is from the 5000 commonest word list.

957 is a weirded one - I think it’s an American one. It’s not one we would use in this country, ever, really. Happy to send full explanations by pm but it will be a massive spoiler if I explain fully, I think!

Took a weird route there as my high non green words seemed to be indicating something else entirely - they were all synonyms or related to the last two syllables of 958.

Yesterday I got philosophy on guess 9, but because moral was higher as guess 11, I went down that route and forgot to try philosophical until guess 31. Grrr!

I was stuck on pragmatic for ages yesterday, and had discarded Philosophical as religion was so low.
