Since weve almost managed to fill our 6th thread I thought I should start the next so we have somewhere to sc

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

If you want to join in the fun followthis linkand prepare to lose your sanity.

If you want to see how we've been getting on up to now our previous thread ishere. We tend to use the threads to rant about how we're getting nowhere, celebrate our successes and laugh about the previous day's top 1000 but please, no spoilers. Subtle hints only here; use DMs for more obvious clues.

Enjoy!

Not a spoiler...

I'm wondering what the mental gymnastics for clues will be like if the word is ever Green or Cold.

Solely relied on clues on here today.

I solved Semantle #64 in 185 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 10.30. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #130. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 5.82. semantle.novalis.org/

I nearly put a few days ago that it was a "gift for me" (as it's one of my early words I often try). Then realised that as the word was "present", it would look like I was trying to put a spoiler on. So I didn't write it. Grin

Somebody please help me! I’m absolutely screwed, on 200+ guesses and every time I get a green everything else I can think of is totally useless! Am so bloody frustrated

Wallawallakoala · 03/04/2022 22:10

@fuckwhatshouldido I've sent you a hint I'm not sure how useful that would be. 977 is randomly not that useful!

Wallawallakoala · 03/04/2022 22:11

929 is a form of the target word

SlightlyJaded · 03/04/2022 22:15

I'll take a clue please!

Semantle 7
Wallawallakoala · 03/04/2022 22:22

@SlightlyJaded if someone was being 38 with you, they would have a certain manner or way of talking to you that would be -

Wallawallakoala · 03/04/2022 22:23

Think simple versions of the words you've already used in a way

JaneJeffer · 03/04/2022 22:30

@SlightlyJaded 620 without the ending!

SlightlyJaded · 03/04/2022 22:34

@JaneJeffer - that might have been a bit more than a clue, but at least I can go to bed now Grin

Wallawallakoala · 03/04/2022 22:34

Argh sorry didn't even see that one

fuckwhatshouldido · 03/04/2022 22:35

FINALLY. I solved Semantle #64 in 252 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 3.58. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #3. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 2.56. semantle.novalis.org/

That was the most annoying it’s been for a long time!

fuckwhatshouldido · 03/04/2022 22:36

Ps thank you for the clues! Put me out of my misery Grin

NoDramas · 03/04/2022 22:53

I will also be needing a clue

I know this is going to be an anticlimax

I have read the earlier clues pertaining to my greens but I'm getting nowhere slowly!

Thanks. It’s taken me all day and this is the clue that has helped me. Bizarrely 38 seems much closer to the final word than all my other (many) green answers!

Wallawallakoala · 03/04/2022 23:06

@NoDramas if you think about 908 and 955, there are certain forms used for this, to be 969. If they were being 969 or 883, they may talk to you this way, but also though this means of 936.

Wallawallakoala · 03/04/2022 23:07

@MoonriseKingdom it's mad the ranking of the words I don't understand it!

ScrambledSmegs · 03/04/2022 23:16

Got 960 at guess 3 which was surprisingly useless.

I solved Semantle #64 in 31 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 2.20. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #3. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 20.82. semantle.novalis.org/

For the love of God and all that is good and holy, thank you!!!

That was more painful than it needed to be.

My worst day yet! Many more guesses than most, a few hundred guesses less than others. I was worried I wasn't going to make it. And I could have sworn I had already guessed that word.

Roll on 1am!

SheilaFentiman · 03/04/2022 23:27

Sorry if I am stating the obvious, but if you do put a word in twice, it just numbers it as the first guess of that word, so worth doing if you are not quite sure and don’t want to look through everything.

Wallawallakoala · 03/04/2022 23:37

@NoDramas that cracked me up, I absolutely know the feeling!

Wallawallakoala · 03/04/2022 23:51

@SheilaFentiman yes absolutely worth putting it in twice. I've been completely convinced I've already put it in though, to the point where I don't feel I need to put it in again.... Only to find that it is in fact the target word

Gah! Annoying
