Since weve almost managed to fill our 6th thread I thought I should start the next so we have somewhere to sc

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I solved Semantle #62 in 77 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 2.75. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #36. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 4.53. semantle.novalis.org/

Odd how it entirely ignores two other well known meanings of the target.

I'm at the stage where I can't remember what words I've put because they all mean the same thing. Think I'll have a little break for a while.

Yes, it is surprising. I wonder how much Google News content is processed, and over what time period, to generate the 'word vector' used to train the AI.

I think it checks your previous guesses and doesn't double count if you put the same one in more than once.

I put in a word which is an obvious alternate to an obvious meaning, and it was cold! Very surprised 😮

That seemed to come out of nowhere at the end! Took me by surprise a bit 😂

I solved Semantle #62 in 99 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 13.95. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #20. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 17.11. semantle.novalis.org/

I’m so stuck with lots of greens but my highest are 986, 979, 961 and 957. Any tips?

I can’t help but think you write cryptic crosswords for a living because this has me stumped! Got to 881 with more random guessing but not getting it at all today.

@ChuckBerrysBoots most of your greens are in the list as words that follow the target word in certain contexts. Think more workplacey and corporate.

Thank you! I finally got it after 250 goes. My worst since I started doing it this week. I was down a rabbit hole of wrong

I only discovered Semantle yesterday (after wondering what on earth the thread could be about!). I gave up yesterday and am trying really hard today. Can anybody help with a clue...?!

Got there, finally, but so many of my greens bear no relation to the word! Thank you! 201 guesses today 🤦‍♀️

I'm totally stuck, lots of greens along the same lines as 991, but I can't work it out.
