Semantle thread 4 is almost full and there's still plenty of love (and hate 🤣) for the game, so here's a new thread for Sunday's game.

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

Oh god, how is it possible to still not have it?!!! I’ve said “995 is part of X” about 20 times but none of the words that fit X in my head are any closer! I’m probably too tired to solve this now, but will try for another few minutes before I give up. Off to brush my teeth to see if inspiration strikes there first though!

I got it thanks *@ElegantlyTouched* but I'm still stumped! Seemsike a lot were stuck at 995! Think when it gets to this time of night my brain can't function!

Have replied trying to be a little less subtle. What else would you send, and what do the letters stand for?

I solved Semantle #51 in 62 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 5.88. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #6. My penultimate guess had a similarity of -2.04. semantle.novalis.org/

Oh my god thank you so so so so much @ElegantlyTouched, your clue made the other go on in my brain at long last! The other clues got me to 995 I think so thank you all so much!

Much as I’m ashamed of how long that took me, taking so many guesses actually means I feel more elated to have got it than ever before, so that’s nice, but isn’t going to help me sleep, which I really need to do now!

Ah, this game is a godsend and a curse all at once!

I solved Semantle #52 in 23 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 9.76. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #12. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 23.58. semantle.novalis.org/

I like today’s even if I am a bit disappointed I’ve already done it. Two distinct paths to the answer I think.

Quite a lot of random guessing but within four green guesses I was at 961 and then found it three guesses later. I found it much easier than yesterday's.

Definitely on the easier side. 614 took me to 879, which took me to the answer.

Just couldn’t get a green. Then once I got one it only took 2 more guesses. Highest was 879 and was obvious from there. [green]

150 guesses in and I’m at 995 and just like yesterday that’s where I’m stuck I’ll try again after some sleep!

Yes 879 took me straight to it! 995 seems less related than 879

I've got to 987 and its a word I had as a high green a few days ago.
But all the close things then are cold now.

I also have 879 but it's not helping at all.
I'd love to solve this before I have to go to work I an hour

Well that was unexpected. 80 cold guesses and then number 81 was right. It was literally my only green.
