Semantle thread 4 is almost full and there's still plenty of love (and hate 🤣) for the game, so here's a new thread for Sunday's game.

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I solved Semantle #51 in 89 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -0.92. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #28. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 19.94. https://semantle.novalis.org/

I think those of us who’ve got it quickly got lucky with 970.

The 995ers I would say, this is a means by which 995 is delivered.

I got both of those quite quickly but now I'm stumped

Ok I asked a friend for another word for 996 and he got it in one. Ffs!!!!! But at least the agony is over.

Was way off track, looked on this thread and got it in 5 guesses 😆 might have to stop looking as it feels like cheating now!

I solved Semantle #51 in 62 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 2.17. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #56. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 27.71 (250/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I solved Semantle #51 in 88 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 7.13. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #74. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 42.45 (911/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

It took me 74 guesses to get a green, probably my longest yet to get a green word. After that it wasn't so bad.

I found 51 in 70. Much better than yesterday - I had to give up after 300 guesses.

 for those having a tough time at the moment. This is a nice little haven away from it all, so thanks for making the thread @ElegantlyTouched.

On a side note I'm very jealous of the people getting ??? I've not had that yet.

It is indeed a haven here, as is doing all the various brain puzzles that have sprung up. I lost my dad just under a month ago and I'm spending far too much time trying not to think about it or I lose the plot. Semantle really helps!

It doesn't hurt that I've addicted a few people at work, too, so we have a competition!

I got to 996 then did a synonym search as I couldn't think of any other words. Enjoyed today more than yesterday.

Hurray! After yesterday's disaster (I got to 995 before giving up), here's today's triumph.
The clue about it not being the most simple word really helped.

Marking my place - I got into the greens fairly quickly but stuck on 995 for a while.

I think 995 is quite broad and the answer is more specific.

I got to 914 reasonably quickly but not past it! Anyone know if it is helpful?

I got 995 at 35 and just seem to be going backwards. I've tried to be more broad and more specific but just frazzled

It could be helpful depending on the context.

The people stuck on 995 would find 914 helpful, I think. Do any of your lower words suggest any contexts?
