Semantle thread 4 is almost full and there's still plenty of love (and hate 🤣) for the game, so here's a new thread for Sunday's game.

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I think the clues here make me more frustrated especially when I see other people getting it after the clues and I’m still floundering or going backwards!

Think we’ve all been there Chuck.

Although you say going backwards, it’s interesting I’ve noticed that a lot of penultimate guesses are actually quite low down/cold before they land on the right one.

Very impressive 😂 I start to panic when I'm getting around the 50 guesses mark and no greens.

Intriguing split on here about whether 995 is a means to convey The Word or the other way round - better debate that one tomorrow I guess.

Would it be too cluey to say a lot of MNers have a personal interest in this area?

I think today's is easier because once you get some greens it seems like a natural route to the word. No antonyms I don't think, so no blind alleys. Or maybe I was just lucky.

Got it from a clue on here, annoyed again because I'd kind of ruled out the word for not being obvious enough! From now on I'm not going to come on here for clues until I am over 100 guesses.

After taking well over 250 guesses yesterday I got today's in 43!

I guess what's on your mind can influence the first few words you start with 🤣

995 here too. Every related guess just gets lower and lower and others I'm convinced by after reading clues are cold.

Spoke too soon. @InMySpareTime 's clue got it for me via 996. Now I've got to work, that's the problem with getting it early in the day. Like other posters the distraction of this game is really helpful at the moment.
