@Sportsnight

Ah(l) mund - london

Difficult to write - there is a very weak L sound in there

This. Lincs originally but no matter where I've lived and how my accent's changed I've not said almond any differently 😬
Nosetickle · 05/03/2022 21:02

Al mund (South West)

hurtandconfused85 · 05/03/2022 21:03

Dm told me off for saying Al mond but that makes more sense to me

Migrainesbythedozen · 05/03/2022 21:06

Ar-mund. Australia.

Here it shows the prononciation for the UK. Al-mund/Oll-mund is the American pronunciation. dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/almond

Where’s the “i” coming from?! Is this the nut equivalent of people who say “marshmellow”?
8lue8ird · 05/03/2022 21:16

All-mund

patritus · 05/03/2022 21:16

Where are people getting Ar from.
There's no letter r in the word🤷🏼‍♀️

TikTokCat · 05/03/2022 21:17

Almund

Migrainesbythedozen · 05/03/2022 21:20

@HemanOrSheRa Same here and I am saying it out loud. If you click on my link above you can hear it being said, both the UK version and the American version. I've been playing it over and over. Luckily I've got my headphones on otherwise my family would think I've gone crazy.

KateKate678 · 05/03/2022 21:21

Owl- (as in the bird) - mund

(Midlands)

(You said it in my accent didn't you 😝)

@patritus The 'l' in almond is silent. Just like it is for alms. dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/alms

According to the Cambridge, it is Ar-mund and Arms.
