Do you love your mattress?

I need to buy a new mattress. The current one gives me shoulder and hip pain as I sleep on my side. Anyone got a soft comfortable and supportive mattress?

I hate mine so I'm not much help! I need a new one but can't quite stretch to it at the moment so I've just bought a 3cm deep mattress topper instead. It's made a difference actually, it's much more comfortable and my back feels better.

Jamoffmytoast · 05/03/2022 13:08

I've got a Hypnos one and I love it. Have had a more expensive one before which is not as good.

I have an orthopaedic mattress. Absolutely wonderful

noscoobydoodle · 05/03/2022 13:11

I love my mattresses. It's a tempur and it was expensive but one of the best investments I have made.

Svara · 05/03/2022 13:12

I wouldn't say I love it but I have an IKEA Hafslo in firm and it's done me fine for four years so far, comfortable, sleep well, no issues. Currently £115. DS has the same in a single.

ArtOfTheImpossible · 05/03/2022 13:12

Yes it's a £500 one from ikea, very firm

AmberRoseGold · 05/03/2022 13:12

We bought a John Ryan bed based on recommendations on here. Really rate it. Much cheaper than our previous vi spring but better IMHO

Yarnivore · 05/03/2022 13:13

I have the Hypnos Premier Inn deal mattress and I love it.

DialsMavis · 05/03/2022 13:14

I have grown to love mine very much, it is an Otty Pure and towards the end of the period where you can send it back we were dead set on it going then we suddenly got used to it and now wouldn't be without it. It is quite firm though, a friend has the standard Otty and it is a bit squishier, I would be happy with either.

FinnulaFloss · 05/03/2022 13:15

We have a Simba. It is out of this world. I will never, ever buy or try another brand in my life - there's no need, it's literally perfect.

We bought it on Ebay from the Simba outlet - it was basically a returned mattress that someone had and sent back within the 100 day window. Then they're deep cleaner and have a brand new outer layer added and boxed up again.

It was pristine, like absolute brand new but cost about a third of the usual price - would highly recommend this for anyone wanting an expensive Simba but not wanting to shell out £800 odd!

WildFlowerBees · 05/03/2022 13:17

We went from a Tempur to a Mammoth and we love it, best nights sleep in a long time.

paddler78 · 05/03/2022 13:17

Agree Simba best investment we ever made - got it on a Amazon Black Friday deal - I would never buy anything else now

DialsMavis · 05/03/2022 13:17

I have slept on a Simba, also very nice

Bawheed · 05/03/2022 13:19

We have an Emma mattress - it's cack! Very expensive cack!

FurryBandito · 05/03/2022 13:20

I have an Emma mattress and my neck and back pain is worse than it was before I got it 3 years ago. It’s wearing well I’ll give it that though. But I’d not recommend it if you have hip pain.

Aria20 · 05/03/2022 13:22

I hate our simba!! Can't wait to get rid of it - I will never buy another one like that. It doesn't regulate temperature at all and I find it very uncomfortable - also a side sleeper so I don't recommend

toomanychickens · 05/03/2022 13:23

Got a simba mattress 3 years ago and it's great.

Aria20 · 05/03/2022 13:23

Simba, Emma and eve and several others are all based on same technology so yes if you have hip pain don't buy!

Pennox · 05/03/2022 13:24

I have an Eve Hybrid which I love. Id say its more medium-firm though that soft. I don't like soft mattresses.

EBearhug · 05/03/2022 13:28

I've got a John Lewis one, which was still quite expensive, even at sale price, but it was worth it for me. In any case, we aim to spend a third of each day in bed, so it's worth investing in, because life with poor sleep soon becomes intolerable.

Eddmr · 05/03/2022 13:29

I love it.

I bloody hate my £1000 mattress that I bought during lockdown (so didn't test it). I should have returned it.

The only way I've made it dealable with, in fact quite comfortable, is to buy a mattress topper (£60 Dunelm) and some fancy memory foam pillows... Made a heap of difference.

Just a thought in case a topper and new pillows could solve the issue.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 05/03/2022 13:33

I have a Milford wool mattress and love it. It's medium firm I'd say rather than soft but it's so comfortable compared to the cheap one it replaced. We put off buying it for ages because it felt like such a big purchase, but now wish we'd bitten the bullet and got it ages ago.

Aria20 · 05/03/2022 13:36

@Eddmr that looks comfy - are there stores you can test it in?
