Do you love your mattress?

I need to buy a new mattress. The current one gives me shoulder and hip pain as I sleep on my side. Anyone got a soft comfortable and supportive mattress?

Tempurs are notorious for being too hot but I love mine.

If I divorced my DH I'd fight him in court for custody of my mattress.I have an ultra edge mattress by the Pennine bed company.

@Nix2020

Sealy all the way. I'm on my second after the first one lasting ten years. Absolutely love it. So comfortable and supportive. Not over the top price wise either.
Same here. Sealy hybrid geltex and pocket springs. Someone once said to me 'no decent mattress ever comes rolled up in a bag' and I have to say he was right.

I've got a Simba and it's... OK.
Being a cheapskate I bought Emma for our holiday home and, once I got the free mattress topper they offer, it's by far the most comfortable of the two

Libertybear80 · 06/03/2022 01:13

I only buy Emma mattresses now. By far the most comfortable.

@noscoobydoodle

I love my mattresses. It's a tempur and it was expensive but one of the best investments I have made.
I have too, money well spent.

I have this exact same issue but can't afford a new mattress at the moment. Would a mattress topper really make a difference and if so what material would be best to go for. My current mattress is medium firm pocket sprung.

bert3400 · 06/03/2022 10:40

We bought a king size IKEA sprung mattress a couple of years ago ...was €800 . Its amazing and so comfortable. Best mattress and best night's sleep we've had

Clarice99 · 06/03/2022 10:46

I have a John Ryan (Artisan Bespoke). Best mattress ever!

DesdamonasHandkerchief · 06/03/2022 11:11

We bought a Westin bed and mattress about 10 years ago after staying in a Westin hotel and being impressed with the beds. It's still going strong and is so comfortable we've bought another two for other bedrooms as they needed replacing.
Not the cheapest (imported from mainland Europe so delivery costs were high) but not the most expensive either and worth every penny.

I've put a thick mattress topper on our not very comfortable guest room mattress and it's made a huge difference.

I have an Eve premium hybrid which is wonderful. I’d never buy anything different now. My dd has an Emma normal one and it simply doesn’t compare.

ReiltinDubh · 06/03/2022 12:27

Thanks Desdamona
Is it foam or memory foam? So afraid of shelling out more money and STILL waking up sore!

DesdamonasHandkerchief · 06/03/2022 13:03

Reiltin, I got this one. It is very thick so you need an extra deep fitted sheet to cover it and the original mattress:

Thank you so much - off to Amazon now Grin

DesdamonasHandkerchief · 06/03/2022 13:56

I hope it helps👍

LightsoftheNorth · 06/03/2022 13:58

The best mattresses topper I've ever bought is a wool one from Devon Duvets. They are wonderful - keep you cosy in winter, cool in summer and it's like sleeping on a cloud. Because they are all natural fibres, there's no sweating or clamminess. And they last and last (unless your bloody cat is sick all over it, I've never ordered a replacement for something so fast in my life Grin ).

CaptainHammer · 06/03/2022 13:59

I have a Sealy orthopaedic mattress and it is SO comfortable. I also recommend a wool duvet

LightsoftheNorth · 06/03/2022 14:01

Yes to a wool duvet here too - in fact a wool sandwich is best of all, so wool topper and wool duvet.

cushioncovers · 06/03/2022 14:06

My brother and his wife got the Emma one and rave about how great it is.

FleurDeLizz · 06/03/2022 14:10

If you’ve got any sort of aches or pains steer clear of Emma - I got awful back pain because it’s too soft.

I’ve got a Relyon Memory Superior Ortho Support 1500 Pocket Mattress and it’s brilliant I love it

OldTinHat · 06/03/2022 14:27

I went to that shop (yeah, that's helpful!!) that advertises on TV the bed you lie on and it uses a computer to find the best mattress to suit how you sleep, your weight and so on. Bensons? Dreams? One of those anyway.

Anyway, I did that three years ago and have the most perfect mattress that didn't even cost £££

PickAChew · 06/03/2022 14:32

I have a vispring which was lovely for 2 years then just stopped being lovely. It doesn't give me shoulder pain like my old, firmer mattress did but I'm back to waking up with lower back and hip pain.

confusedlots · 06/03/2022 15:07

I bought one from bensons for beds a number of years ago for our spare room. Didn't pay too much thought to it. My parents slept in it a few times and commented on how comfy it was. Then I slept in it when I wasn't well and was amazed, it's so much nicer than the expensive one I ended up buying from a local independent shop after much shopping about for our own bed. Shame it wasn't the same size or I would have changed them!

Babymamamama · 06/03/2022 15:17

I recently slept at Hilton in the UK and the mattress was so perfect I had to check the branding under the sheets. It was a Serta mattress. I haven’t managed to get anywhere with sourcing one. They seem to be only on sale to the public in the US. It was so nice. Firm and supportive but with a soft top layer. I’m going to have to book into the Hilton at some point to experience it again. If anyone knows anything about this brand I’d love to know. By the way I hate all the memory foam - too hot and not my thing.
