Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

All mine are really abstract! I have got 971, 951, 917, 893, 869, 865 and many others and they are all abstract kind of words. I know people have said there is another more concrete meaning but all my guesses like that are cold - I'm on 317 guesses...

I didn’t enjoy today’s. I agree with @RoxieLoxy that 943 is one of the more helpful words.

I solved Semantle #38 in 130 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 3.39. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #5. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 65.29 (999/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Sudden breakthrough and got it

Flipping heck! 998 and going backwards

Now I have got a word that has lots of ???s instead of a number, with similarity of 22.73- it says it is an unusual word and not in the wordlist for the top 1000 but is still similar, I can't see how that would be...

Currently on my 482nd guess for today's. Feels IMPOSSIBLE.

@MrsElm I’m clearly thinking along your train of thought, as my top two are also 994 and 991. I’ve been there since guess 45, and I’m now in the high 100s and I did so well yesterday…….

Got it in 31 yesterday.
