Semantle Chapter 2

Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

160, 425, 747 all the words I thought related to these didn't even get me green!

Stuck on 901.
I have so many green words. I think I have a theme but cannot get any closer

@MrsElm 994 and 991 have the right end but are only tenuously connected meaning-wise.

I solved Semantle #38 in 218 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 4.51. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #22. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 14.13. semantle.novalis.org/

Not a bad effort. Faffed around in the early greens for a while 😂 then got the real theme and needed a few attempts.

I solved Semantle #38 in 42 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -0.25. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #3. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 65.29 (999/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

So those are related to quite an abstract meaning of the target word. There's a more concrete, physical meaning too. Try around that and see if you get anywhere. Sorry I'm not sure that's any help- it's hard to think backwards!

Bramble, what is 901?

Got it after 300 guesses! Well that was bloody stupid. I only tried that word because I was listening to the tv and adding words in they said that may fit.

As in 'X is 901'.

But I swear I’ve tried them all!

I’ve got 988 now, and a load of lower ones that basically mean the same/ similar to 988, but then something else that means the same is ‘cold’.

I’m baffled today.

Any hint to get me from here gratefully received!

I don't know if it's even worth me attempting this one if so many of you are struggling and giving up. I've so far only got 3 green words that have very obvious synonyms yet they're all cold :(

Aaargh the clues are taking me further away and I know nothing about centreparcs!
