Bottomless brunch

Went to my first one recently with a few friends. Dear Lord I didn't realise how constant the flow of drinks would be...in 2 hours we managed 7 drinks each! I could not do it regularly. Had a good time though.

I'm always really dubious about bottomless brunch. In my head they'd be a lot slower at taking drinks orders to limit the amount of time you had to keep ordering...

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 27/02/2022 08:26

It wasn't like that at all- they encouraged us to order 2 rounds at a time. Even after our allotted time was up we could stay at the table and finish the extras we accumulated. I dread to think how many calories were consumed...so many sugary cocktails 🍸

I avoid brunch at all costs, bottomless or not. I do not want us to become the 51st state in all but name

Sparklingbrook · 27/02/2022 09:16

I love brunch. You don't need anything until dinner then. Grin

All the more for the rest of us then!

I love a brunch but can’t cope with bottomless, I feel the pressure to drink more than I would otherwise.
And also I find the food is always an afterthought.

I’d rather spend the money getting a really delicious brunch and a few good quality cocktails.
My teeth can’t take more than three cocktails.

biggreenhouse · 27/02/2022 09:18

bottomless brunch is almost deadly to me.. I've done it twice..never again . the certainly didn't hold back.

RichardsGear · 27/02/2022 09:20

I did it once and I was legless, never mind bottomless Grin.

Lyricallie · 27/02/2022 09:24

I love bottomless brunch, but I'm out of practice. When I lived in London I would get my money worth. Now when I go down to visit I was steaming by 12pm and hungover by 4pm. Did mean I was in bed early 😂

Comedycook · 27/02/2022 09:26

I was very disappointed as a virtually tee total greedy person to discover that bottomless brunch meant unlimited drinks rather than unlimited food

Roominmyhouse · 27/02/2022 09:26

Ooh I love a generous bottomless brunch! Was it a las iguanas by any chance? We went to the south bank one and did bottomless Prosecco and definitely got our moneys worth! 🥂

PurpleDaisies · 27/02/2022 09:27

Brunch is my favourite meal.

What’s wrong with brunch? When we go out for brunch, we have a really small breakfast and/or lunch. It doesn’t have to be an extra meal on top of everything else you would normally eat.

There is a Greek restaurant near to me that is both! Unlimited Prosecco/beer and unlimited brunch menu items (which were smaller, sort of tapas style so you could try plenty)
MarmiteCoriander · 27/02/2022 09:32

I didn't realise you meant alcoholic drinks!!! Shock

I had an image of a lazy Sunday morning breakfast food, with lots of tea and coffee Grin

What did you actually eat? Not sure I'd fit much more in after 7 drinks.

Frlrlrubert · 27/02/2022 09:35

I went once as a belated work Christmas party and it was lots of fun, we did drunk mini golf after then train/taxi home and in bed early.

Couldn't make a regular thing of it though, and it was a bit weird being drunk while people were doing daytime things like shopping around us.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 27/02/2022 09:36

A bacon wrap thing. It was really nice. I did feel very full! We then went to a few pubs after which was probably a mistake 🤔 🤢

I love all types of brunch! Lazy at home ones where eating bacon at 11am feels the very height of decadence or bottomless ones out which result in buzzy heads and no washing up. I brunched yesterday and ''twas glorious!

nearlyspringyay · 27/02/2022 09:38

I love brunch! Don't often get much vfm on drinks though, they seem to be watered / juices down.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 27/02/2022 09:42

There was no watering down in this one I can assure you

I did one once. I was completely pissed by 2pm then had the rest of the day to get through, was hideous. What are you supposed to do after the brunch?

As brunch is a meal then I'd be surprised too. Encouraging excessive alcohol intake before lunch doesn't sound very sensible.
hilbil21 · 27/02/2022 09:52

I really want to go to a bottomless brunch. We aren't allowed them in Scotland. Another of the SNPs rules to prevent binge drinking. I will get to one one of these days lol.

Oblomov22 · 27/02/2022 09:52

I too am wondering where you went and what you did afterwards?

The only way I could see it working is when say a group of dads say Football dads (their sons play football) go abroad for a long weekend, say to Benidorm, stay in a hotel for a long weekend and then go out one day for said long brunch.

then can go back to the hotel and sleep it off and meet later in the pool? other than that if you're in the UK how would this work? you be legless and trying to get home on the train?

When I do bottomless brunch we take the last slot which is around 3pm…then can easily go onto bars later and return in the early hours of the morning Grin

Roominmyhouse · 27/02/2022 09:56

Maybe I’m a bit of a lush, but we went for a walk down the south bank after ours and then to the pub and carried on drinking! 🙈
