I find it hard to stick with Biden when he’s talking

It’s so autocue driven

Doesn't he have a speech disorder? but he is saying the correct things.

Where is the UK's promise for more troops? we promised ONE ship and it broke down :(

Inkanta · 24/02/2022 19:09

Well yes I think the US ought to bomb a few tanks at least. Seriously.

Unsure33 · 24/02/2022 19:10

@Alexandra2001

A PP asked how many troops we have compared to Russia. We have approximately 25,000 infantry..... Russia have about 400,000

BJ still plans to reduce the 25k to 19k and to reduce the size of UK military by 10k.

Russia has about conscripted 280k infantry, the rest are mercenaries.

And yet there have been plenty of posters complaining about money being on defence as it is needed elsewhere .
TiddyTidTwo · 24/02/2022 19:10

@Alexandra2001

Thank God we have Biden in the Whitehouse !

Full commitment to NATO, far more troops to eastern NATO members, ships, planes and a promise to Putin that every inch of NATO territory will be defended.

😂😂😂

No. He's weakened the West, especially after the Afghanistan withdrawal.

I'm no fan of trump but I don't believe he he was in power this would have happened. Not because he's a great leader but because he's such a loose cannon, Putin would not have the confidence

I’ve never been a fan of Biden however he’s much more composed and informative than bumbling BJ hmm

Are you joking? The man is barely awake!

What info did you get from BJ? He’s placidly gave no answers other than ifs and puts.

As I’ve said I’m no fan of Biden but he has been informative.

BeKind2022 · 24/02/2022 19:11

@TheViewFromTheCheapSeats

Nearly all my large extended family is there, my oldest children left this morning. I just can’t process it
I can’t imagine how stressful this is for you and them. I will keep you in my thoughts.
Tigersonvaseline · 24/02/2022 19:13

I don't know why on earth you Keep pushing for us to give more Alexander.

I really don't.

We are insignificant and small

Yes agree. Trump seemed to have a way of engaging and handling Putin - I reckon he could have averted a war.

mjf981 · 24/02/2022 19:13

I think this will be over relatively quickly. Russia is massive with a huge military. Ukraine is not. The west will impose sanctions but that’s about it. Russia will have captured Kiev within a few weeks and then it’ll be over. Ukraine will become part of Russia again.

Informative about what?

I have no confidence in any of them. Uk is infiltrated with dirty Russian money so that's put us on the back foot.

I'm worried

Unsure33 · 24/02/2022 19:15

@Alexandra2001

Humanitarian aid - medical supplies and finance for refugees in the countries immediately next to Ukraine

that old chestnut, anywhere but us?

No, we need to be taking in Ukrainians to this country as well as the EU, maybe halt the Chinese HK coming here in their '000s right now, we need to prioritise.

We have as a country already said we will take Ukrainians here .
Roundeartheratchriatmas · 24/02/2022 19:16

TBH I expect them to have Kyiv within 48 hours.

There will be a lot of bloodshed though every citizen are allowed from today to go out and buy a gun . And that is what they are doing .
Hotelhelp · 24/02/2022 19:18

What does it actually mean for them to capture a country?

Unsure33 · 24/02/2022 19:19

@TiddyTidTwo

I heard an American colleague say exactly that today . The weakest leader in their history he said . And he said that is part of the reason it has happened now .

He has a stammer. Which is largely well-disguised, but which becomes more apparent at moments of stress.

I tried to listen today but found it impossible. Like he was trying to speak whilst chewing his own beard. Which is a shame, as I suspect the content was reasonable, but...

Will try and find a transcript later.

OnlyOpenMouthToChangeFeet · 24/02/2022 19:22

Apparently a platoon have surrendered to Ukraine. They believed they were gathering intelligence, not being sent to kill. Who knows the truth!

Biden is a nice family man and a grieving father but doesn't seem to have the skill set for a president.

I quite believe it. I watched Biden statement last night and said to DH ffs he's half asleep, stumbling words squinting trying to read the autocue.

Suzi888 · 24/02/2022 19:24

“A PP asked how many troops we have compared to Russia. We have approximately 25,000 infantry..... Russia have about 400,000”

Well. That’s the end of that then.

PupInAPram · 24/02/2022 19:25

@TiddyTidTwo Trump was in Putin's pocket. It was pathetic. He wouldn't have been elected without covert Russian cyber influence. It's how far the Chinese are willing to go to bail out the Russian economy that worries me.

Libraryghost · 24/02/2022 19:25

I think Biden is too old at 78. I can't imagine doing my own job at that age never mind running a country. Putin has taken his opportunity. The west is weak and he knows it.

Alexandra2001 · 24/02/2022 19:26

No. He's weakened the West, especially after the Afghanistan withdrawal

Yes Trump did, he started the timetable of withdrawal, which the UK embraced too.

I'm no fan of trump but I don't believe he he was in power this would have happened. Not because he's a great leader but because he's such a loose cannon, Putin would not have the confidence

Really? Trump was backed by the russians to get to the WH and then there is that sex tape Putin has on him....

Tigersonvaseline · 24/02/2022 19:27

From that Twitter feed, apparently new recruits thrown into the army, not free to resist, lot's of people with family in Ukraine from Russia, lots and lots of protest in Russia.
