Mine is ankle. No idea why, I’m sure there are better ones!

Mine is never the same word! Didn't think of using the same one. Haha
Using the same one is boring

I didn't know it was a thing to start with the same word every time! Blush
Today's was really difficult.

@Deadringer

Pears. My dd is good at wordle but she does it differently to me. She puts in her first word, then on the second line she puts in another word, not using any of the letters that she got right in the first one iykwim, thereby maximising the letters she finds. She nearly always gets it on the 3rd go, while my average is 4.
I do the same as your daughter. I use riots then clean which covers the ten most common letters. If I've really got no idea after that then I'll try bumpy which then covers all the possible vowels sounds. Since it's American they use 'u' a lot less than us and u is a far less common vowel than the other four so words with u aren't always useful (appreciate the irony of saying that today).

There is a setting to make it harder by forcing you to reuse correct letters but the only time I've seen people fail is when they do that (we've all seen the attempts where people have got 3 or 4 greens in their second attempt then have worked through alternatives only eliminating 1 or 2 letters at a time and not getting the correct word after 6 attempts). Eliminating options by using completely different words is a more efficient strategy. When I've tried my two different word strategy in the archive I usually get words in 3 attempts.

WalkingOnSonshine · 12/02/2022 20:33

I do Later, followed by Sound if nothing comes up.

Butterbeer4All · 12/02/2022 20:34

Adieu or arose

MangoM · 12/02/2022 20:35

I use a lot of different starting words, but aim for words with two vowels and a couple of two common(ish) consonants... stuff like
Train, plate, break, heart, etc ... whatever I can think of at the time.

MrsHGWells · 12/02/2022 20:37

Changes daily; vowels is key
Steak: stear, sweat; purge; riots; games, storm, poems; whisp; party, spear, panic, petal, prose, orbit

YessicaHaircut · 12/02/2022 20:43

I try to use a different one each day and also aim to cover all the vowels in the first two words. So unite/roads for example.

catsoup · 12/02/2022 20:56

Oiled
Like many on here, I just used it at first and now it's stuck.
