I'd forgotten all about Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland until I read this piece about it. And then wondered how I could've forgotten as it was huge! And those were the days before social media!

I never realised that Michelle Pfeiffer played a conciliatory role or that the wedding cake apparently spoke to a tabloid reporter!

What are some scandals you remember from that period? (I'm housebound with Covid - humour me!)

Frolicking in a field if I remember correctly. This was the reason she became famous wasn't it. Utterly bizarre she's carved a career off the back of it.

Pps saying how did celebs comeback from scandal- it wasn't 90s but I will never fathom how Boy George got work on prime time family shows after chaining up and beating a sex worker without their consent and while on drugs. So many un "family friendly" aspects to that one.

Film trivia - River Phoenix was meant to be playing Christian Slater's part in Interview with a Vampire, I think CS gave his fee to a charity and the film was dedicated to River.

I have a really clear memory of listening to Courtney Love reading out Kurt's suicide note, it was on the radio.

I think if River had lived a lot of parts that have gone to Leo would have gone to him

Yes CS did, it was lovely. Also, Anne Rice threw a shit fit over the casting as she wanted River to play Lestat, not TC.

No I think Anne Rice said she wanted Julian Sands to play Lestat @BitcherOfBlakiven. One quote I do remember is "Tom Cruise is no more my Lestat than Edward G Robinson is Rhett Butler"!

But in the end Tom was pretty good in the role and she acknowledged that.
