I'd forgotten all about Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland until I read this piece about it. And then wondered how I could've forgotten as it was huge! And those were the days before social media!

I never realised that Michelle Pfeiffer played a conciliatory role or that the wedding cake apparently spoke to a tabloid reporter!

What are some scandals you remember from that period? (I'm housebound with Covid - humour me!)

Iglooing is the act of freezing a turd an using it, ahem, intimately. Added it to my "Things I learnt from Mumsnet" list after the last celebrity gossip thread.

Totally, totally minging. It makes those people who get off rapturously from having a big, deep sniff of somebody's sweaty trainers at the end of the day seem like the most boring, vanilla prudes ever.

Anybody doing this really needs to dial right back and carefully examine at what point their life started going off in this direction.

Explains a lot.

Let's not forget that these are just rumours and chances are they never did anything of the sort!! Much like David Cameron and the 🐷

To be fair, I think iglooing is one of those urban legends, a bit like the hamsters in the arse or the pints of semen in the stomach thing. I’ve seen the same thing attributed to many celebs.

My DH is in the music industry. One of his friends was the soundalike for a big rock star, his job was standing in the wings and singing when they were on tour.

Wasn’t Ozzy was it?

@TossaCointoYerWitcha there’s a really interesting guy on you tube (wings of Pegasus) who analyses performances for auto tune and shows the graphics to prove it -it really takes the heart out of performances

Billie piper marrying Chris Evans really shocked me at the time-seem such an odd pairing and she seemed so young it was a bit grim.
Tracy Shaw I didn't know about the shoplifting but I knew she struggled with alcohol dependency - hope she's well now.

Given she later married Laurence Fox, Chris may have been the better choice! I think she's onto husband 3 now and has a baby with him so I hope she's found happiness.

I think she said that because she felt so old on young shoulders, whereas Chris was a big kid...that's why it worked, that he enabled her to have her youth and kick back and get drunk/have a laugh. She refused to take money when they split and neither have ever bad-mouthed the other.

Some of you may like When Ruby Wax met, on iplayer, which is her looking back on interviews with OJ, Trump, Heidi Fleiss and Pam. Brought back the 90s vibe.
