I never realised that Michelle Pfeiffer played a conciliatory role or that the wedding cake apparently spoke to a tabloid reporter!

What are some scandals you remember from that period? (I'm housebound with Covid - humour me!)

How did Hugh manage to come back from that to almost national treasure status

because unless it's a sex crime like rape or racism or something cheating isn't viewed as that bad by society.

I wouldn't say lowe bounced back well at all, ok he has worked since but he too never found the fame he had again or near to it after the scandal. He did no better than ryder.

CT’s sidekick on his Capital radio morning show was a woman called Kara. Kara had a topless photo of Sophie from way back when they were friends, before she met Edward. Just before Sophie’s wedding to Edward, Kara sold the topless photo to a newspaper and it was published. Chris Tarrant was furious and Kara was fired immediately

PP mentioned Hugh Grant, but let’s not forget Eddie Murphy also got caught giving a prostitute a ‘ride home’ and his career has also recovered just fine.

The 90s were definitely more innocent. Does anyone remember when News of the World or other tabloids used to have a big exclusive, they’d advertise it on TV. The subject of the story would look very sincere and say something like ‘read my side of the story in this weekend’s News of the World’. And then you’d have to wait and hope your parents bought it, so you could read salacious tales of shagging footballers.

Re the royal scandals of the 90s, people seem to have forgotten just why Edward & Co are no longer on the radar. It's not through modesty or the desire to have a quiet life but because they showed themselves to be absolutely mendacious, toxic and full of the worst kind of corrupt positioning, as seen in this article from the time.

Was just thinking about that. I remember headlines about Emma Ridley and Amanda de Cadenet (who married John Taylor of Duran Duran). None of them were complimentary and it was all about.....putting it bluntly......them being a pair of slappers who should behave better. The fact that they were underaged teens who should have been looked after better by their parents didnt seem to be a factor

Amanda de cadenet was 19 and pregnant when she married JT who I think was over 30. She was 17 when they met
