I'd forgotten all about Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland until I read this piece about it. And then wondered how I could've forgotten as it was huge! And those were the days before social media!

I never realised that Michelle Pfeiffer played a conciliatory role or that the wedding cake apparently spoke to a tabloid reporter!

I think many of these wives know exactly what their husbands get up to and the marriages are are a PR thing or marriage of convenience. Their marriage is effectively their career.

Also gutted when River Phoenix died, especially because it turned out he wasn't this clean living guy he portrayed and had actually been taking drugs for years

he wasn't though, he took a stand against eating animal products and how cruel it was, he openly admitted he smoked and had bad habits.

It was Tesco in Didsbury and not just a bottle iirc. Stuart Hall got stopped for taking a whole trolley of shopping out of Sainsbury's in Wilmslow around the same time.

That turned out to be the least of Hall's crimes. Madeley was found Not Guilty or, as my late mother always said, He got off!

He may have been slightly younger than 209, but she was definitely only 13 . Think that was the 89s, bu that culture was still going strong in the 90s. The press loved calling teenage girls like Amanda De Cadenet ‘wild child’. No comments were levelled at the creepy old fuckers sleazing all over them.

David Beckham (again) kicking an Argentinian player in the 1998 WC, and he got sent off and England lost (again). Whether he did it on purpose was the debate. I always wondered how he managed to turn that one round afterwards, at the time the tabloids were vitriolic blaming him for yet another defeat against Argentina!

The supermodels of today just don't measure up. Gigi, Bella, Kendall etc can't hold a candle to Cindy/Christy/Linda etc in their heyday. I wonder if accessibility is key here? Back then they seemed remote and exotic but now with everyone on social media there's no mystery.

The Mandy Smith thing was awful. She started out going to a north London comprehensive but then Bill Wyman moved her to a private school (which he paid the school fees for). Imagine paying for your girlfriend's school fees.

After they split up, Bill Wyman's son married Mandy Smith's mum. So weird.
