I'd forgotten all about Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland until I read this piece about it. And then wondered how I could've forgotten as it was huge! And those were the days before social media!

I never realised that Michelle Pfeiffer played a conciliatory role or that the wedding cake apparently spoke to a tabloid reporter!

What are some scandals you remember from that period? (I'm housebound with Covid - humour me!)

Whatever happened to Will Carling? And didn't Julia Carling split with him over his affair with Diana?

One of Diana's married lovers was called Oliver Hoare, he was a friend of Charles (nice). When he ended things, his wife complained about hundreds of nuisance calls that were eventually traced to a phone box outside Kensington Palace. 🤔

Rebecca Loos is absolutely lovely . She was treated horrendously by the press - much like Monica / when David / Bill were the ones at fault. We failed women BIG time in the 90s

She wasn't so lovely as to avoid getting into bed with a married man & one who was a very obvious sleaze to boot. He was my MP at the time & was way too touchy feely when I met him & nothing attractive about him at all🤢. Most sensible women would have avoided him without a wife too

I remember Demi Moore posing on the cover of a magazine possibly vanity fair ? Naked and heavily pregnant . Was really scandalous at the time , I remember reading that some shops were covering it with brown paper bags . Everybody seems to do it now

I can't remember if it was Julia Carling or Oliver Hoare's wife who said it, but apparently Diana used to visit them and stay for hours. Even worse, she would just sit there with the couple and not really say anything but then, the moment JC or OH's wife left the room, she would break into the most animated conversation with their husbands.

MP Neil Hamilton and the cash for questions things. I remember on Have I Got News For You they kept referring to him as 'disgraced former Tory MP Neil Hamilton" when his wife was on the programme and she kept asking them to stop calling him that.

Didnt Christine Hamilton become famous and appear on I'm a celeb and other programmes for being the wife of a disgraced MP, though? I'm pretty sure if he hadn't done anything dodgy no one would have remembered either of them.

The little Britain sketch of the disgraced MP outside his country house was very topical at the time it first came out.

It wasn't about trainers. And more shocking is that she then died in a car crash while while being recorded in 2002 and this still being online to this day to view.

This isn't really a scandal but I had tickets to a take that tour, and the papers had pics of the costumes they had for Relight My Fire and one of them had chaps with his bum cheeks out. My mum was absolutely appalled that that was what we were going to see!! 🤣

Haven’t RTFT but I seem to remember Ulrika featured in the tabloids a lot. Stan Collymore hit her and then he turned out to be a dogger as well as an abuser. Charming guy.

Darren Day created a lot of scandal in the day dating a string of famous tv actresses like Tracy Shaw, Isla Fisher and Anna Friel.

Anna Friel did that very graphic threesum on channel 4 with Jonathan Reyes Myers soon after she left Brookside.

Or Queer as Folk in 99 was pretty controversial especially with that graphic sex scene with 15 yo school boy played by Charlie Humman and the 29yo man.

Definitely the 90s - Madonna still had a certain mystery. When Her SEX book, Truth or Dare documentary and Blonde Ambition tour came out in the early 90s she caused such a sensation. Dating Warren Beatty and trying it on with Antonio Banderos when he was already in a relationship with Melanie Griffith. Scandalous!

The debauchery of the Primrose Hill set was early 2000s, but we still felt like we were in the 90s at that point! I remember the threesome between Sadie and Jude with Kate Moss, and Kate supposedly walking into a party and shouting "Who wants to fuck me?"

I loved INXS and was gutted when Michael Hutchence got with Kylie because she was such a boring goodie two shoes 😆 Didn't they get caught having sex on a plane? And then Bob Geldof brought up Michael and Paula's lovechild.

Regarding the Brian Harvey/baked potato incident, there were some indications it was attempted suicide as he'd attempted it before and suffers with severe depression.

I read Daniella Westbrooks autobiography years ago. Such a sad waste of a life. I always felt sorry for her son.
