Daily Haiku

Hello!

Anyone else fancy a thread where we write and share a haiku daily?

I used to write a lot of haikus. I find they're a good mindfulness exercise 🙂

I've just started writing them again about my baby son but will try to branch out into other topics.

Here is one from last night. Distracting the boy with a toy boat while putting him in pajamas (he's a wriggler). Title in bold.

Tug Boat
A toy boat sailing
The blue ocean of your sheets
Night night tiny boy

W - with three
syllables, not one - unique
in the alphabet.

Blue tit wobbling on
Berried pyracantha bush
Not eating the fruit

My friend came to stay;
Although it’s deepest winter
Today feels like spring.

My house is messy:
The evidence of friends whose
Lives entwine with ours.

Watching scary films
With my darling teenage son
Scared to go pee now

You've been in my life
Since I was just eleven;
Shadows fall; not us.

After the hail storm
Beyond the dark shining roofs
The mountain aglow

Been busy today but enjoying everyone's updates ☺️

Today, my first/last
Self-scan supermarket shop.
It all went tits up.

Recorder practice
Or cold wind? Cat’s dilemma.
The great outdoors wins!

Sleeping at my feet
Snoring gently, twitching paws
Soothing my sore heart

4.40 AM
My mouth tastes like floodwater

I am so enjoying reading and writing haikus 💖💖

Stillness, soft and warm...
Breath slides easily, down...down;
Thoughts seep into dreams.

Book proof reading done
Why can't these bloody authors
Learn to punctuate?

Ozark and pasta
In the darkness of our room
Together again.

cold early winter wake up
Nappy whiffs like gone off cat food
Massive spotty mug of tea

Morning haiku

Heavy limbs, sore head,
Another night of poor sleep,
Too much in my brain.

He's found the brioche.
"My air-o-plane! I smell it!"
Toddler fantasy.

Oh my aching head
My throat feels on fire as well
Tested negative

I took DD to school
For the first time in too long
I am on top of the world.
