Strangest thing you have found embarrassing

I was waiting for a friend with a bunch of flowers for her. I found this so embarrassing for some reason! Something about standing on a street with a bunch of flowers. I also find having a baby bump cringe!

Walking back having just bowled a ball - why is it so cringey!?

Even worse after a gutter ball BlushGrin

@Daisymaybe60

I was going to say I must be strange because nothing much embarrasses me.

Then someone mentioned lifts. I got into one at M & S last week. The other couple standing there were waiting for someone and didn’t get in. I pressed the button to go up as I checked my phone. The door opened and I walked out - straight past the same couple - the lift hadn’t gone anywhere. I was too embarrassed to make eye contact and get back in, even though I heard the woman asking her husband if I hadn’t just got into the lift…. Just carried in walking hoping they’d think I was my own identical twin.

Grin. Fantastic! I can just imagine someone like Miranda Hart doing a comedy sketch like this...

@3luckystars

Sunglasses. I love them on other people but even trying on a pair makes my body curl up with embarrassment.

I would love to be able to wear them.

Yes, this and hats. Wearing either would make me feel like everyone is looking at me and I’m showing off 🤣
RobertSmithsLipstick · 25/01/2022 18:59

Sitting on the one little seat at the front of the bus that faces everyone.

Hazey19 · 25/01/2022 18:59

@Jacaranda75

Leaving a cinema when the movie finishes and everyone is leaving. For some reason, I always found this really embarrassing.

Also walking past a busker and worrying that my footsteps will be in time to the music.

I love this one so much Smile I totally know what you mean.
Luckypoppy · 25/01/2022 19:00

Singing happy birthday!

accentdusoleil · 25/01/2022 19:01

Queuing at a buffet at a wedding . Feels so grabby and greedy

I wait to the end when everyone else has been and there is no food left

Also how much do you take? I take far less than I could eat because I feel people are judging

Hazey19 · 25/01/2022 19:03

@Overtired201984

Calling in sick , my arm could be falling off and I would still feel like it’s illegal.
Also this. I hate this!
RobertSmithsLipstick · 25/01/2022 19:05

Me too.
I never know whether to put on a suitably sick sounding voice, in case they think I'm a liar.

Lizzy1980 · 25/01/2022 19:06

@AutumnOrange

Back in the day there used to be rose sellers going round the pubs or clubs. Even if you had just started chatting to some random bloke/woman there was that awkward moment of what if they buy you a rose? What if they don’t buy you a rose? Even 30 years on the memory makes me cringe!
I always used to say ‘no thank you’ immediately before they had chance to embarrass you by buying or not buying you a rose. Excruciating
Somuddled · 25/01/2022 19:08

I'm a gardener by trade. People watch me garden all day long but when it comes to weeding outside my own house....so much embarrassment!!

I find having to overhear other peoples complaint or problem phone calls so so embarrassing. I don't know why. So if my husband or friend had to call to chase up a missing delivery or cancel a taxi. Argh, I feel a bit fun just typing that out!

refraction · 25/01/2022 19:08

Speaking on the phone when someone is in the room.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 25/01/2022 19:09

Shaking hands with people.
I'm never sure whose hand goes where, how many shakes, and where to look whilst shaking.
Then who decides how many and what kind of shakes?

AngelinaFibres · 25/01/2022 19:13

@SkiingIsHeaven

Accidental fart in a public toilet. You know, the little ones that escape when you least expect it.
Oh god yes. Even worse if you go into the toilets with a friend and your friend is in the next door cubicle when the fart pops out SmileSmile
mia778 · 25/01/2022 19:17

Opening presents in front of people !

GagaBinks · 25/01/2022 19:17

When someone sings or plays an instrument in front of me. What am I meant to do? Where should I look? What do I do with my hands? My face? I hate hate HATE it

CeleriacOfTheNight · 25/01/2022 19:18

Those four dreadful words

everybody clap your hands!

Also, I think I spend the last 30 minutes of almost every train journey I've had fretting that I'm going to be the only person getting off at the stop and I'm going to open the wrong side doors and walk out into mid air and drop onto the tracks Blush

I love the newer trains that now have screens with arrows that point to the right side for dumbasses like me

AngelinaFibres · 25/01/2022 19:18

Opening presents in front of anyone. I have a friend who can look totally, rapturously delighted when given something. I just can't do it. It feels weird and fake when I do it , even if I've just opened something I genuinely love. I get so discombobulated by it it goes all odd.

CeleriacOfTheNight · 25/01/2022 19:19

Relevant side that should say Grin

God yes. Also Carol singers. I had a friend in a local group. She told me they were going to go around the village and they would call at my house to sing. I gave her a donation if she absolutely promised they wouldn't.
CheshireCam · 25/01/2022 19:23

@Lizzy1980 I once saw two girls in colourful bandanas throwing sweets into the crowd at a festival. I bet you'd have died on their behalf.

RockyReef · 25/01/2022 19:26

Telling people I had cancer. I found it absolutely awful, so embarrassing, and even worse if they were then teary or upset about my 'news'. I just found it all mortifying. I even get embarassed when the nurses are kind, what a wally I am!

GenialHarryGr0ut · 25/01/2022 19:27

Walking into a meeting - too early and I'm embarrassed. Too late and I'm embarrassed.

The end of a Teams meeting when people wave goodbye - I have never left an in person meeting waving. Or even worse when everyone starts adding "thank you" or 'bye' to the chat.

Wearing new clothes - when people comment I go bright red.

gottogonow · 25/01/2022 19:31

This is a cracking thread, I feel so much better about myself! Going to the toilet when in the cinema Confused-judging the drink quantity versus film length, feeling the need build up, weighing up the flight of stairs that seems to go down forever, eyeing up the lighting and trying to work out how I will move my legs correctly down the steps. Then trying to to a confident skip down when I finally commit. Also don’t like going on the train-how many carriages away is it, who is watching me get up and walk past, and will it be one of those big semi circular ones where after peeing I realised that I hadn’t locked it properly, and yes if someone else had come the door would have peeled back and presented me in action to all those outside 😳.

danni92 · 25/01/2022 19:31

Taking my glasses off to clean them or to put on sunglasses and vice versa.

This thread has made me feel normal 🤣
